Oil Level Guage
During my last oil change, I "adjusted" the float arm on the oil level pickup. I checked the dip stick to the gauge and noted that 1/2 fill read about 3/4 full on the gauge. I have noted that the gauge has progressively read lower and lower. Checking it today, it reads in the red yet the oil level is still about 1/2 full based on the dipstick.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I think it's absolutely standard. I've seen a number of times on both my 993s with at least 4 different oil gauges that initial reading is higher after the oil change and than it goes down in a week or so.

should the oil be half way or all the way on the top of curved portion of the dip stick? sorry for rookie Q

IIRC, he common wisdom on this board is that it should be half-up the curved section of the stick. The experience has been that oil filled above this point somehow "disappears."

hmm, I must have overfilled it. I'm at the top of the curly portion of the stick. Should I worry about it?

It must be my imagination, but it seems my vehicle likes the oil "topped off". That is, at the top of the oil dipstick. It seems to run better. I know, makes no sense.
