Is this a rite of passage of Porsche ownership?

Do nothing.
When I drove your car from AZ to CT four years ago with 90K miles on her she left a single drop on my new garage floor. In the autumn and early winter months (ok I lied...those were NOT all summer miles I put on her)....she rarely left a drop. In the summer she always left about a drop a week.
A couple of notes.
1. That drip takes quite awhile to build up. A quick wipe of the timing change cover after a run especially in warmer weather eliminated any drip for at least a week.
2. Motul Synthetic seemed to reduce the drip to once every two weeks.
3. Nice floor, matches the car nicely.
4. An engine tray prevents the drip.....well at least prevents said drip from hitting that nice floor
5. According to the Rennlist Lemon Law..I'll happily buy that car back from you when you're ready to sell her
