Why do I feel like I've been here before...
They say that history is doomed to repeat itself...in my case though, it's probably a good thing...
Long story short....up until May of last year, I was a 993 owner of 8 years but the time demands of being a new dad, a business owner, and 3 vehicles for my wife and I sadly meant that the car was only being occasionally spun up. It was sold to a buyer in Germany- the prodigal Porsche returns home so to speak...and a sad day indeed. It was my first Pcar and with it came everything I learned on this great forum all the while tumbling...er...freefalling down the slippery slope. At the time, my misgivings were mitigated with the intent of also getting out of the Cayman and consolidating into a new 997S...or so I thought.
Well, last year was a blur and the best laid plans never materialized out of the sheer distraction of being too busy. Sometime late last fall, I was wandering Rennlist and saw Doug E.'s (aka Sanyata's) '97 C2S up for sale. I thought about it long enough to file the thread away and figured I'd think about it. Fast forward 3 months or so into this year and late one night while cleaning out my email box, I came across the link I had sent myself regarding Doug's car. On a whim, I decided to write him an email thinking that the car had probably sold but I thought I'd ask anyways. As fate would have it, he hadn't actively pursued selling it and after listing it, had let the listing slide...well, a couple of calls and a day or two later, I was down at his house checking the car out. Doug turned out to be a great guy who had a nice file of records on the car. We talked for awhile about the car and coincidentally also found out that we shared the same mechanic - Tony Heyer whom I also called regarding the car. Well, you can guess what happened next...after a few days and a bit of back and forth, I became a 993 owner once more...
It's nice to come home.
