Heres a pic of my ride height but keep in mind that I did not get the standard kit that you would buy online. I don't track my car so I had it set up with the stock rubber top mounts, softer springs and a ride height approx M030 to lose the 4x4 look handle back roads with ease. If you get the right person setting them up they can set them up at the height you want and still give you a good adjustment range without affecting the springs and *valving.*

I feel like an old man, I've had the PSS9's so long (since 04) that now but I have much corrosion around the body and I can't get the spring perchs to adjust anymore.. The powder coating on the springs has failed and quite a few areas on the springs are starting to rust.. I'm thinking about KW's? The stainless body construction is very appealing... I try not to drive the car too much in the salt during the winters here... but sometimes I just can't resist.. I channel my inner Walter Röhrl with 16" snow rims and let it rip.. Much to the chagrin of her corroding hardware, frozen bolts and disintegrating inner bumper cover supports...

For street cars the PSS10s are great.

The adjustments are easy to do and make a huge difference.

Soft DD blissful. Set on firm and run the canyons.

Cant go wrong and half the cost of the KWs.

For track and money no object KW all the way.

in same bought. Put on pss9 about 2004. They have never had that much adjustability - fine for DE but never get very soft for bad roads. so thinking of upgrading. Sounds like the 10s have a bigger range to improve street comfort.

I'm curious about the adjustability range as well. My car also had PSS9's installed in 2004, 100K miles ago. The shocks have clearly had it at this point -- the ride is bouncy. Wondering if I should have the 9's rebuilt or just buy the 10's. I've never really been able to tell the difference on the 9's between full soft and full firm. Even at full soft it's a hard ride. 10's would be attractive if they actually offer something resembling a soft ride when I'm using the car as my DD.

PSS 10s corrode just as badly as 9s from the state of mine and even set fully soft it's still a firm ride.

According to the first post in this thread there is a difference in adjustability

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=423239&referrerid=93689

I can tell you that with the PSS10 there is big difference between 1 and 10. There are also a number of people who think even at the softest setting the ride is too harsh, I am not one of them though and currently use 4F/5R for everyday driving.

The shocks should have come with a lifetime warranty if your the original owner and have the paperwork. In any case you might want to call Bilstein and see what options they have for a rebuild.

I gotta say...while ride comfort is of course subjective, if anybody considers the softest setting of PSS10s at all "harsh", they are comparing it to a luxury car. For a pre-adaptive-damping sports car, '1' is downright soft...and '5' is what I would consider comfortably firm, as it should be.

Not unless someone has ever ridden in a car with Motons or JRZs; for a sports car (sorry, a full-on race car), my former racer rode crazy well. The spherical bearings definitely added some harshness, but my Moton shocks with 700/900 lb springs rode smoothly. The 1 setting on my current PSS10s is firm (I would not call them harsh) and certainly nowhere near as sublimely supple as the Motons. I find anything over 5 to be too much on East coast roads.

Also depends on your wheel diameters and weights. I have 18" BBS LMs.

When I first installed the setup, it actually felt kind of too soft for me with both front and rear firmness settings at 5. But I have since then increased the firmness for both front and rear (6F/7R) and the car feels great now!

For perspective my M030 suspension will compare to PSS10 at mid point in adjustment. The range is great.

I still have my PSS9s from early 2000s, and my DD 993 still rides as great as ever ...now with 170k miles on the clock! Since I "retired" it from dual duty track/street and its mission (prob since mid 2000s) is pure daily commuting, the car is firm and well damped, never feels harsh, and except for the worst washboard roads makes for a perfect street compromise of sporty and connected but compliantly smooth. If I were to do it again, I'd go with whatever Bilstein is its replacement as these are still plenty good!

I had the same experience. 5 had too much body movement for me in corners and when braking. 6/7 firmed it right up and feels absolutely ideal for anything except for long distance cruising, at which point I would turn it down to 4 or 5. I haven’t even tried 1, I’m afraid I’d lose all respect for my car if it rode like a Cadillac

Default PSS 10 vs KW V-3 or ?

Bump
Fence sittin - Any Updates?
Love to hear feedback from folks firsthand with experience of both, PSS & KW?

Liking the stainless steel construction = Longevity of the KW vs Bilstein PSS anything, as what I see is they are Rusting away.
Have to do some reading but I think each is Rebuildable?
Not overly concerned as long as either can be repaired. Like to keep the next set for a Decade.
Want to do some Track & Auto X

Wondering of the Technology/ies > the Bilstein or KW is more progressive (pun intended) Modern should be a Factor?

Budget aside, on the KW's or any suspension system making the ARMS Do the Work sounds like the objective here.
I am replacing most rubber and Upgrading Bushings to RS.
How difficult or enjoyable has Compression and Rebound to establish?

Being in The North makes this a more challenging decision but thinking Road Atlanta soon - suggestions on face to face quality Suspension installers along the route south?
For those who do not know I am 90 minutes north of Buffalo NY lol
