I'm no sure about Portugal but for example in Finland is 18 months.
Pretty sure. Am looking into the detail, but Portugal doesn't follow EU rules on this, and they actually classify it as a pollution type levy rather than an import duty. Approx 20k EUR...

As it will be a UK car, I won't be able to get a road test done (without taking a trip back to the UK), and therefore it will be without insurance.

But as others have said, the car should be ok. I can get all the oil and fluids changed annually by an local indie.

...Since its going to be long term, interested to hear if people think the tank should be full or empty. Apparently the 993 gas tank is plastic??

The tank should be very-very full, to eliminate condesation, and Sta-Bil added at twice the dosage level.

Mine are stored for the winter. 4-7 months.

The gas tank full used to be the way I stored them but with a plastic tank(won,t corrode) and fuel with up to 10% alcohol being the norm now I am no longer sure I would do that. Alcohol modified fuel will absorb lots of water from the air. It is even seen as a problem with a full gas can used in the lawn maintanance business it sucks up moisture from the air and degrades the fuel even with stabil added. Also the marine formulation for stabil is supposed to be a superior product.

Don't worry and have fun on your trip.

What Ed said. Relax. This is no biggie.

Appreciate all the advice.

- Am looking at Stabil. Will check out the marine product also.

- David will get there just after the summer. Will ping once there.

Thanks

Phil

Another tip, park on a sheet of plastic, a thick mil painter's tarp works great. This keeps moisture, that comes out of the garage floor, away from the car's underside and suspension.

Take it with you or sell it. Good luck with the move. Great city.
