Upgrades I Regret

You should double check & make sure you don't have a vacuum leak. It's to easy for one of the black lines to pop off, & this can cause all kinds of troubles.
If you haven't done it, you might want to also clean out the ICV.

Yes, mine is for 91 octane/LWF/95. I may send the chip back this winter and see what he can do.

Hey Matt, Sorry to hear you are having issues.. I would talk to Steve, I am sure he would turn around the chip in a few days, would be better to get this dealt with now rather than waiting till winter.

Sorry you are having issues. I think the OBDII cars need more tlc with the LWF
I have one on my 96 and have no issues...love it in the city and otherwise.
I feel my car is transformed in a big way (for the better) with the RS mounts. Funny how all cars and thier owners are different.
good luck

Hi Steven. The pinging is intermittent, minor and at low revs so I'm not too worried however I'll run the Husky 94 for the summer.

I have a '95 and for sure will install the LWFW.
The stock flywheel is way I've weight and won't allow the engine revs to raise & drop as fast as ut should.
Sportscar needs to rev the way sportscar is supposed to rev.

Hate to read these stories,,, Hope you get to the issue Matt!
I decided to go with the Andial MWF, hopefully it will give better performance than the DMF (should be more reliable, at least,) and I won't have any stalling issues.

They are $947 as of today, and Pete at Andial is very helpful.

I have a Wong chip as well. Steve's advice to me was to try it as-is, and if I see stalling symptoms he will send a new chip with the anti-stall code.

I also installed a LWF with Steve Weiner chip but I have a 97 model. No problems to report whatsoever. No stalling, rock solid idle and nice performance change. Definately noticable over my old setup.
Anybody using modified ignition parameters needs to run higher octane. I run 98 (RON) and it's running fine, no pinging.
I can only recommend this mod.

Do I dare comment of my love/hate relationship with the LWF and 95's? Ok, I will. Im one to vocalize that if your 95 is stalling, Im sorry but there is no cure. Steve Wong does not guarentee his chip will not stall.
Just learn to live with it because you will beat your head to a bloody pulp on this one---ask me know I know after 7+ years of a LWF, 4 differennt chips, several trip to the shop, months of wasted time, smoke tests, ISV cleaning, and you name it.
The thought of stalling races through you mind for a VERY long time. To this day, 7 years later, it goes through my mind and although it doesnt happen very often, it still happens and I want to put my fist through the windshield when it does happen.
Just learn to deal with it and modify your driving habits. Next stop when I have to replace my clutch: DMF and Im going to take a sledge hammer to the LWF and video tape it....it will be like Office Space with the printer.

Three Wheelin'
Matt, my 95 (w/ LWF) performed like yours with my first chip, but when I changed to Steve Wong's, it worked much better -- not perfect, but more than satisfactory. Before changing chips I got an ANDIAL mid weight flywheel but now don't feel the need to install it. So, if you want to buy mine -- still NIB -- shoot me an email (joshuaweinstein@ymail.com).

I'll have to mull the MWF option over. I'm still experimenting with the bouncing idle. I'll turn the ISV up a bit more. It seems that turning on the AC helps a lot. What actually gets adjusted when the A/C is turned on? It seems like the engine load increases (obviously) and something is changed to hold the idle rpms from falling. Anybody knows how this works?
