Anyway, I e-mailed Mickey so I'll see what he has to say. I'm just feeling kind of dejected.
I'd be dejected too if I trusted a mechanic that didn't seem to know how to properly fix an A/C problem in a 993 the first time around and wound up charging me for a fix that didn't solve the problem.

If he properly serviced it, check the pollen filters. Just a hunch.

Think about getting a front strut brace. This may help reduce some of your creaks. Cheap, and easy to do. Minimal, if any performance enhancement.

You will fix the AC because it is broken. You can do the "996 rope" for the windshield, which works great but I fixed mine using Fister D Stage III. Look at the bright side...you drive one of the best cars ever built. Not many can say that...

Your ac is not serviced properly. Mine is great in Tampa (95 degrees, 95% humidity.)

Try Queensland, Australia summers which are hot and humid. Mine copes well. Maybe get someone else to look at your aircon.

Well, it's clear from the responses that the AC should work better. The other day when I had it in to the shop I needed the car back quickly due to some scheduling issues. I'm going to take it back to him next week and see what he can figure out. What's my worst case scenario liability if I have to replace the unit? I'm tempted, just to know that I have the best cooling possible. We don't have humidity issues here, but the sun is so intense that at 70 degrees the inside of the car can feel like an oven.

My old c4s had an a/c problem that turned out to be a disconnected vaccuum hose, if I recall. I was quite surprised to hear that- was expecting to trouble shoot, charge the system, etc but the mechanic just p,ugged in an errant hose. Quite odd, actually.

Sounds like you are a prime candidate for driving one of them there Chevy or Ford big boy cruisers with the velor seats to keep your back side from sticking in the heat.

Don't ever buy a pre 89 911 if you don't like the 993s AC.

Nashville is pretty warm and the AC has been plenty cold. I also suggest having that looked at. I do not have the dash creaks, but coulod also find that annoying.

Evaporator, expansion valve, drier, seals: $1,100 if you use dealer supplied parts, half that if you use Autohausaz or Pelican. Plus 10-15 hours of labor depending on the shop. The ballast resistor for the condenser probably also needs replacing, add another $50-60 or so.

Same here. Drove it to Parade last year in the 90s and AC blew cold, if loud, the whole time. We were always comfortable.
