One FS in Los Angles: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...370077413.html
totally agree...

and I have a bright yellow Speedster replica with all of the Porsche badging. All the previous owner's work.
I didn't think much about it when I bought it but it is kinda weird. Sort of made to deceive.
Then there's the color... Nowhere near authentic. So who was he foolin'?

Either way, I laugh every time I drive it. Can't help it. Very fun little car.

A Spyder rep would be a blast

Not to steal this thread but I got bit by the Cobra bug a few years ago and about a year ago got this Superformance with a Roush 402 - they are a blast, drives great and get so much attention (at 1/20 of the cost of a real one. And I am not scared to drive it anywhere.

I'm sure this has been covered before but how does a kit get away with having the Porsche name on it? They are so strict with where their name/crest is in photos, etc.

Looks like a well sorted car on Pelican. I would love to have one someday.

Here is a link to a few images I posted some time ago from one we warmed over. Rack and Pinion steering, designed and built four link rear suspension and of course a lot of power!

I seem to remember that Beck had a flap with the Porsche factory at one point, kinda like the Shelby Cars/Superformace Cobra flap, but all that settled out years ago.

When Beck built and sold the complete 550 replica, the car came with a Beck badge, which was a shield the same size and shape as the Porsche badge, on the front lid....Buyers would then remove the Beck badge and replace it with the Porsche badge, add a rear badge, script, etc. There are also plenty of replica badges like the Karman badge and the Winn's Pegasus emblem.

I'd say the situation is the same today....

I recall seeing one on the freeway once. It is damn small. Like MG Midget small.

We get spoiled these days with all the safety stuff- even when I drive the 914, which would look huge next to one of those, you feel pretty vulnerable, with just a belt and shoulder harness. Of course, 40 years ago I felt pretty safe in that car!!

As much as I'd love to have one of those, I would be scared to death to be drivng that on the 101 around Scottsdale. Might as well be on a bike!!

Used to drive a girl friend's Midget when in high school- yeah it was a blast, but boy you didn't want to hit a squirrel let alone another car!!
