Default C4S wheel offset question

I've decided to get a set of 18" Techart Formula wheels, but I have a choice of offsets on the 8.5x18 fronts. I can get them in either ET40 or ET50. Which is better for the WB cars? I'll be running either 225 or 235 tires on a car at ROW M030 height. Thanks in advance!

edit: car is a 97 C4S.

FYI

I am running, on my 198 C2S (wide body) a set of "Sport Classic II", BBS wheels, the "offset" on the front is ET 50, size 7.5 J X 18" on the front, tires are 225/40 X18.

On the rears, the "offset" is ET65, on the 10J X 18 Wheel size. Tires in the rears, 265/35 X 18.

they fit perfectly, as I changed from the 17", "Cup" Wheels. The car has been lowered to MO33 ride height, with "Comfort Springs".

Hope that helps,

Bert

Thanks Bert, but even though the 2S and 4S share the same body dimensions, I'm wondering if the suspensions are different in terms of spacing. I know the C4S is the same as the turbo, which I assume is different from the NB suspension. Are you running spacers? Your rear offset of 65mm seems awfully big. I believe the C4S rear offset on a 10" wheel is about 42mm.

I do not have the answer on the 8.5x18 fronts but I can give you the standard sizes and offsets.

The C4S, the standard "turbo look" (or hollow spoke turbo) wheels with no spacers:
  • 8J x 18 front, offset 52mm
  • 10J x 18 rear, offset 40mm
There are rears that are 10J x 18 offset 65mm.

The 65mm offset were designed for the NB cars but could be fit to the WB cars by including a 25mm spacer

For a very useful calculator, with diagram, that helps make sense of offsets and how it will affect your wheel placement, see:

Dave,

I believe the Spacing is all the same between the C2S, C4S and TT. I'm running Factory GT3 pattern wheels built for a my04-05 996 TT. Offset is 18x8 et50 in the front and 18x11 et45 in the rear. No spacer.

Thanks guys. It's looking like the ET50 on a 8.5" rim would be the better choice.
