Slips out in 2nd gear, what could it be?

I am looking into a 993TT to buy, and the only complaint on the car is that is when in 2nd gear on a rare occasion, it slips out of gear. I don't know much other than what I just wrote and have done some searching.
I'm trying to understand the list of things it could be, including cost to have it fixed?

I've heard 2nd gear sincros on the 993tt can be an issue to look out for, but not sure if that will cause the pop-out.
I know 996tt has a well documented 2nd gear pop-out issue

the synchro shouldn't cause it to pop out of gear. One thing's almost certain - if it gets worse or you want to fix it, it's a gearbox rebuild. Can't imagine that being less than 5k.

If no internal damage this may help.

Most likely common wear issue on the 2nd gear dogteeth where they contact the slider.

Thanks guys for the root cause.
ViperBob, how much for the rebuild assuming I have a independent shop doing the repair? I got 0, I mean zero skills.
Thanks -
Tony

Just to throw my 2 cents in here. I'd come out of second gear every so often, during hard breaking or cornering (a PITA during autocross...). I took my box to Steve and had him go through it. 1st & 2nd operating sleeve and worn syncro were my issues. Once back together with all the steel goodies I haven't had an issue since.
