I would agree. But Alcantara is sooo sexy (me walking away whining). Anything sexy is not practical, especially in the long run

I bought another 4-Spoke wheel with a leather airbag. I bought it for the leather airbag. As luck would have it, it was an early edition and the airbag would not work on mine. Easy fix..... off to Poland with the wheel. The steering wheel is gray so I asked them if they could recover the back portion in black leather. They can for an additional 35 Euros. Also, the steering wheel was leather and wood and they are able to recover it without issue. I'll be selling the first wheel when the new one arrives.

And.... the three spoke wheel for the Boxster S arrived. I'll get it mounted and some photos posted tomorrow.

Chuck, the Boxster wheel looks great! Is this 1/8" over padding?

Have you had any issues with customs at all? Did you use USPS to ship to Europe?

Not sure how much they increase the padding. I just asked them to, "thicken" it. No issues with customs at all. Both times it was about four to five week shipped to return. I shipped USPS each time.

FWIW, I have resistors I can send out. I built up a few with molex connectors and sent out to a few RLers already, but I'm out of connectors.

OK, we have enough people interested in this group to make it a go.

I'd like to start gathering wheels from anyone interested at this point. I'd like to send them to Poland in about 2 weeks or so.

The deal is, they are giving us 10% off on labor/materials. And we save by combined shipping, although it's fairly minimal as wheels need to be sent to Boston and than back to y'all

The prices before discount seem to hover around 130 Euros for 3-spoke wheel and 170 Euros for 4-spoke. This is with thicker grip thumbrests, color stitching if needed. Smooth or perforated leather or a combo of the two. What chuck W. showed in his threads, in other words.

Let me know ASAP, guys and girls, if you'd like to participate. Hint. If you are buying a spare wheel to recover, you can have it sent to me directly o save one way shipping. If you are buying one in Europe, you can send it to Poland as well.

Default group re-covery

I am interested in 3 spoke from Europe, "thickened", perforated sides, tan/gold stitching. Have 4 spoke with airbag if someone wants to "borrow" (you pay shipping) in the interim or buy outright. Will then sell current oem 996 3 spoke w/o airbag when Polish beauty arrives. Hope the "splines" are the same--I had to "re-align" my "just perfect" corner balanced, 4 wheel torque thrust alignment when R & R'd the 4 spoke with the 3 spoke--1 spline set me 5 degrees or so "off" of centered wheel--can't stand to be anything but "dead straight, on center wheel

Van, are you looking to get the 3-spoke wheel from them as well as having it recovered, or do you have a 3-spoke that you want to ship to me?

OK, guys and gals, we have a group

Those of you who are looking to have their wheels recovered are advise to contact me ASAP as it seems the first shipment to Poland will be happening in week to 10 days. So far we have 4 people including myself plus several interested parties that have not decided. The more people we get the lower shipping charges would be. BTW, this is not limited to Porsche wheels only.

If you want in, please indicate it here and PM or email me as well before the end of the week. Again, if you do not have your own spare wheel, Carsdream can source a 3-spoke wheel for you for 150 Euros (about $220 in today's rate) for you.

Speak now...
