I have been having an intermittent ABS light and got my mechanic to run a scan when I was getting my track inspection done. It was "Right front speed sensor input implausible". I thought the wording was funny, but hopefully a quick remove and clean would fix it.
Well, that job went pretty typical for one of mine. I was very careful and sprayed it with penetrant a few minutes before, but still snapped the head off the cap screw holding it in. The sensor shouldn't be threaded, but even trying to drive a punch under it, I cant get it to pop out. Dissimilar metal corrosion maybe?
I have it soaking in PB Blaster now and I guess my next course of action is to try and drill out and extract the screw. Any other ideas or pointers?
Here are a few pics. The other sensor is a similar one off a 944S2, I think.
My expert wrench says leave it alone until I can get the whole carrier out the the car. Apparently he has had a few fun times with these in the past, as well.
