Default Thank you Chris - Walrod Control Arm Bushings significantly improved the car

After I replaced the bushings last weekend I finally made a test drive. The steering wheel wobble is almost gone and the rest can be attributed to beat-up track tires. I am very impressed. The old bushings looked ok but they were apparently not. Now need to do the convertible ...

I think with the age that our cars now have, the bushings will be at or beyond their life expectancy. Thanks to Chris for a great product.

To anyone who has had the walrod bushings for a long period of time, do they squeek and make a lot of noise? That is my one hesitation as I have used poly bushings before and they tend to drive me crazy with the noise!

I installed a set shortly after Chris released these. No squeaking to date, whatsoever. Just a solid product that delivers.

considering the grease they use, they shouldn't...that stuff is like the stickiest stuff in the world.

Do NOT get that stuff on anything you are not trying to get it on. I have a pair of pliers that still have it on them. But I never had any squeaks, and the new owner doesn't either.

+ a million the change these bushings make.

I would have to say, changing the bushings is probably more important than any other suspension upgrade. Which is to say, it is probably the most important upgrade (actually repair) you can make.

Going from the stock suspension to Bilstein HDs, ROW sway bars, and a strut brace was a noticeable improvement. But going from the old bushings to the new ones from Chris completely changed the way car feels, especially in the corners. And the 50-60 mph shimmy is GONE!!!

Thanks Chris --

I put about 300 miles on these bushing doing mostly highway and moderate speed b-road type driving (but nothing too hard).

While they did reduce a bit of vibration I was getting, I wouldn't say they are night/day compared to my 78k mile stock ones.

the steering feels a bit more direct and the front end a bit more solid, but at least in my case the improvements seem to be more incremental than the earth shattering changes others have experienced.

perhaps my stock bushings were in better shape than it seemed?

Either way, hats off to Chris for producing this product, and at very reasonable price point.

I'll be getting these control arms soon, though presently Rufus (127,000 miles) handles great and the stock bushings seem to be fine. I wonder if they were ever replaced in a previous life.

What would cause some control arm bushings to wear so fast and others not so much? Hot/cold weather? Pot holes?

lots of harsh roads, huge heavy rims, track work, etc.

tends to be a gradual decrease in performance so you may notice a big difference in performance....ymmv

Another thing that I didn't know existed until I found out via Rennlist that it is a necessity of life. Bought mine from FD Motorsports.
