Frankly, I can't understand why people like this are allowed to use Rennlist as their personal hunting ground, sneaking around wearing a "car enthusiast" Gilley suit so that buyers will think that they're not car dealers.
This thread needed a bump...And looks like there is a new posting in the
vehicle marketplace board; Arena with BBS LMs...another "private sale"

What signature?

LOL. I have had a number of friends and girlfriends say that they're glad I'm on their side. I am incredibly loyal to my friends and have a reputation for being very protective, especially when someone is weaker and can't stand up for themselves. Not that Rennlist is weak, but if I see something wrong being done, rather than put my head in the sand, I'll often do something about it.

Don't worry; like most people on here, you're cool. <<

Is this not the ninth sale? Why does Rennlist allow this?

John D,

A different question.

I see RAC Performance has currently 7 cars for sale in the Vehicle Marketplace.
They aren't a sponsor nor fall under the member selling rule maximum.
Is that allowed, and if so, why?

Thanks

Tony,

I was under the impression that they were a sponsor. I'll find out however.

My thanks,

John

To say nothing of the numerous sets of wheels, seats, suspension parts, deck lids, etc., he has sold on here and on Pelican, while representing them as his "private" vehicles.

And he had the nerve to accuse ME of shilling because I have a link in my sig and offered some advice on coupe vs. cab in a new poster's query?

Thank you, John D. I (and so many others here) absolutely appreciate your words. I am frankly astonished that DH has been allowed to conduct as much business on this discussion board as he has. I was beginning to wonder if anyone really cared about preserving the Rennlist trust that you had built.

Thanks, John.
I hear ya, Vic. What is Pelican's policy on dealers selling their wares on the site? Maybe I need to spend more time there...

Hi Mark,

You have to remember, though - many of the newer folks have no idea who us "old timers" are? They don't know about when we turned the site on in 1998, faced some challenges with Porsche AG/PCNA in 1999, rebuilt the e-mail lists, started the forums from scratch - starting with WebBBS, then UBB, then, vBulletin. And users came on-board - simply Porsche enthusiasts... Thousands - actually - tens of thousands, I guess - now?

And all through those times. The good times, the hard times, fun times.. Folks like you Mark, and Mike in Chi, and Vic, and.. Oh hell - I could go on and on with names...

But honestly, I didn't build all that trust alone - that's not to my credit. I simply created the site, was sure it was up and running each and every day - and Jen & I tried to manage it as part of that same community we believed you - and all the others - envisioned along the way... And today, I.B. - I believe, cares about that same level of trust and continuing it forward...

And think back to 1998 - EXACTLY thirteen years this month.... That's a long time... That's more than a "lifetime" on the "Internet", to be sure...

And again - that's not to my credit. But to the credit of all of us who just continue to want to see "Rennlist" the best of breed...

So, sure - we'll have some speedbumps along this road. Always have - always will, is my guess?

But, "trust" and "trusting" is something that is on of the foundations of this community. We built this community on that same principle. And if we lose that - then - I guess we our belief and faith in this same community.

And I can tell you - as an Admin along with Bob, any/all of the Moderators and I suspect with Internet Brands - that lose of faith isn't what this simple "community" is all about.

Thanks for reading - but more importantly, simply...

Thank you...

John

Tony,

As I promised, I said I'd follow up.

Bob R. and I were chatting (and I will and can tell you - he does an excellent job as well - and has for a long time).

I think you will see those ads are down for now until we can determine RAC's position on the site. I have also contacted another few folks, as has Bob.

As I mentioned previously, Rennlist was built on a fellowship of trust. Bob and all the Mods on Rennlist hold to that same ideal. Mostly, we get it right. Sometimes we don't - and I can say that. For 13 years of doing this, as I've said, I've let folks down - and thirteen years is a long time..

As well, if anyone has a concern about a post, thread, person - if you hit the "Report This Post" - I can assure you that a few of us will have eyes on.

My Best Always,

John

John,

I appreciate the follow-up.

I was just looking in that section and saw all of the cars for sale by RAC. My personal opinion on RAC Performance is a positive one. My inquiry was centered around seeing sponsors paying for that privilege to list cars or parts for sale, and it doesn't seem fair to them. On a side note, I was surprised to see they weren't a sponsor when I went down the list.

I love the site, the cars, the conversation. Somewhat of an addiction to say the least. It's amazing how an idea 13 years ago can affect so many lives in a positive way.

Regards -
Tony
