Default Cleaning SAI Valve , Check Engine Light

I cleaned my SAI valve the other day and after about 10 minutes my check engine light came on for the first time. I'll have my local mechanic check my codes on my way home from work, but it would seem likely that I knocked loose some carbon when I cleaned my valve.

Has anyone else done this, or had this same issue after a SAI cleaning.

If you threw codes on both banks then I'd bet you didn't connect the little pigtail hose that comes off (whether you know it or not) when you pull the hose off the SAI check valve. Look for that first.

I got say that I only saw two hoses, one on each side of the valve?

It is definitely the little hose that connects just below the valve. You can usually just feel for it and push it back on.

Question: Do you 'clean' this valve -- as against just changing it -- since you're 'there' anyways.

Replace the valve.

Yeah I wondered that too. From my experience by the time I get the #%&/* thing out it's so mangled it has to be replaced anyway.
