Default Wiper Reversal assistance please.

Hey guys, I'm giving this a try.

It only took about 5 minutes to get the 13mm nut cracked loose, and I've got it to the point where its basically a few threads from coming off the shaft.

Few questions.

1. Does the nut have to come all the way off? If so, how in gods name did you get the nut back on the shaft and get it started?

2. Once its loose or off or whatever, I'm assuming you remove the arm from the splined shaft and then rotate the shaft with the wiper motor or by hand?

3. Once its where you want it, you then tighten the nut?

Thanks gents.

Are you familiar with the wiper reversal DIY at p-car.com ? If not, here is the link http://p-car.com/diy/wiper/

yeah I took a look at that.

I got the nut and washer off, but now for the life of me I can't get the arm off the shaft.

I have small hands.

In fact, getting the nut off was a piece of cake.

Getting the bloody linkage back onto the shaft is the problem.

ok, after a few attempts, I got the linkage on, washer and bolt on.

The wipers now sit all the way down on the passenger side...which is great.

That said, the wipers don't go all the way down on the drivers side during the swipe.

Maybe move it a couple of splines to get to a good mid point.

took a little over 3 hours....no blood lost, and only a few little indents on my palm.

now, the important part.

If you can avoid taking the bolt all the way off, DON'T take the bolt off. Even with a magnetic tool, getting that sucker back on is bloody well difficult.

I read some place, you can just move the wipers over and take out the wiper relay. You do lose your intermitten wiper function.

True? Any thoughts?

Absolutely true. I do this at the track. (see avatar)You just park your wipers wherever you like. But no intermittent function. Takes 30 seconds to do and undo...

yes, this is true.

If you don't mind having to manually "park" the wipers on the passenger side every time you use the wipers, this is a great option.

It also gets rid of the intermittent function, which was something I wished to keep.

If you're not sure you're gonna like it, try out the relay. That said, if you want a permanent solution, i think the mechanical solutions is more appropriate.

folks DO IT DO IT DO IT

This is a fantastic mod. I can't fully explain why, aside from having better sight and ability to see the corners of the car, but it seems to be more 911-like to see that smoothed "torpedo".

Might be time to hire some child laborers to get this done guys.

The issue comes, I think, when it starts raining. You get that swath of glass in front of you that wipers don't reach.

So... please report back when it rains and let us know if it's objectionable. Of course there's Rain-X and other stuff available too.

well, the wipers still cover the glass in front of you...the real issue that the water runs up the glass.

Either way, I don't tend to drive a hell of a lot in the rain, but if its too annoying, I'll switch back.
