Default Light weight battery install (saved ~30lbs)

My light weight cab projects continues with the installation of my new Braille 11lb battery. Took about 1 hr to shave off roughly 30lbs .

So far my 95 Cab diet program is as follows:

-remove CD changer
-remove tool kit, jack, spare tire & air compressor
-remove airbag steering wheel (install 300 mm race steering wheel)
-remove oem power seats (sparco 1 piece race seats installed with aluminum seat mounts)
-remove oem cat converter (replace with no cat. Stebro x-pipe)
-remove oem mufflers (replace with Fabspeed maxflo)
-remove engine tray
-remove oem battery (replace with Braille unit)
-remove Speedline alesio wheels (install Kenisis light weight aluminum K28"s)

Next week the oem hi fi door panels are coming out. To be replaced with Appbiz carbon fiber vinyl look RS door panels. Remove rear seats, console & metal console seat belt frame. Save another 40lbs!

should be done in time for Hershey.

Looking good, I am working on similar things at the moment...

Rennline Lower Dash Stereo/airbag etc removal)- 25lb
Deka 11lb Battery (Same as Braille) - 30lb
Removal of all heating ducts and stock exhaust (fabspeed headers & custom exhaust going in) - 40lb
I already have MOMP carbon seats in the car, swapping out the steel sliders and steel mounts for aluminum mounts directly bolted to floor. -15lb

With all of this should be able to pull off about ~110lbs..... should be awesome...

Next is the carpet and sound deadening...

That's a good weight saving RDS!
Is that battery recommended for racing cars only or fine for street use - with radio, A/C, etc?
Would be interested to know what/if any problems you have after a period of use.
Any reason why you didn't consider the matching mount bracket ?
Regards
Ken

Ken,

this is the #14 battery & will provide enough charge
& crank amps for everyday use. The only issue is you need to trickle charge it when the car sits for a long time. It does not hold/store a strong charge.
I purchased a small quick disconnect battery charger for the cold months etc.

Its fine for every day use since it gets charged when driving.

Good luck
Rich

Magdaddy,

I will have a cooler in my back seat area with plenty of dark stout brews.
Bring a solid color cup however.
