Fusebox map: which fuse for the radio?
After a rear tyre blowout lamppost collision, got the fromt end fixed and like new; drove away happy then discovered on the motorway that the radio does not work, drat. Fine beforehand.
Probably a fuse, easier than returnign the whole car: so in the the forward fuse box listing, #38 is the fuse for "radio booster" but ......... which fuse is #38? Who knows of a map anywhere detailing which (of the many) fuse in the box is this one? I doubt there another relevant fuse in the rear fuse box
The workshop manual does not show a fusebox map; I could pick them 1 by 1 but there are approx 50 fuses/relays in there. Did you remove this before an upgrades etc. Thanks

the numbers for the fuses are in raised script on the floor of the fuse box. May not be easy to see so take a light to it..
Also - you sure the radio isn't just asking for the CODE...they probably would have disconnected the battery when doing the repair.

I just lost all sound to my deck. Deck works fine though. Perhaps the amp on it has problems now. It's a PIA to test it.
Was looking at the fuses myself. Yeah - look next to the fuses - the number is written next to them.

993 Fusebox lists, diags, warning, photos
OK. I want to share what I found out here on fuseboxes on my 96 targa (UK radio therefore no code when I unplug battery)
I attach several photos of my front and rear fuse box diagrams and fuse lists from the 2 lids. Used highest possible resolution (font size is set for watchmakers with microscopes. 5 photos: so you can blow them up
1. Radio booster fuse is up fron #38, damn mine was in good order so my radio problem must be elsewhere.
2. Front fusebox: fuse numbers are next to each fuse though you may need glasses.
3 Do NOT take a slim fuse out and examine it over some open wooden flooring! Kinnoral!
4. Rear fusebox lid in my car had 3 screw/nuts keeping it in place. Use a 10mm open spanner instead unless you are into hyena gnaecology. In my car these screw/nuts are attached to the lid so they cannot fall into the engine bay. Unlikely yours is different as the lid has a 964 part number.
Yes I know why do I need a radio when I have a LPMM?
ciao

Since 2001 approx I have had a 964 and now a 993. No code ever needed for the radio; I would unclip the neg battery wire when on holiday or topping up the battery, probably 40 tiems over last 10 years : never needed any radio code or know anyone here who does but then I talk more about engines and exhausts than radios.

Which radio do you have? It's more of an option by radio than car/country I would think..
I lived in London for years and had a 964 with a Sony radio and it never needed a code, but I always assumed an OEM Porsche radio in the same car would have asked for a code.

You could be spot on there... maybe I was lucky not to have OEM radio. Most air-cooled guys I know have non-Oem radios . I do not talk much about radios and I admit I made an assumption there which is defintely wrong if yours is correct. I should not make an *** of myself.
Good luck

On CDR-210, CD-210, CDR 220 and CD 220 there is a fuse on the back of the radio. I have only found one of these that was ever blown, but it is worth a check.
You can see the red fuse at the lower right hand corner.

I am having the same issue. Found fuse 38, it was blown! Replaced it and it blew again!?! Tried a 30 amp fuse blew again(original fuse was a 25 amp fuse). Any input would be apprieciated.

Vq-1,
Mine blew when some of the wiring was exposed on the harness. I have some accessories powered through the harness. An earlier owner did a poor job of the wiring leaving some wires exposed. Pull your radio out and check the wiring. Hopefully it will be a simple cleanup and coverup of your wires.
I have the cdr-210. Ordered the radio removal tools from pelican. Of course I found stacks of them at Walmart a few days later.
