Default Help me out here....What's this hose?

Hey I need your help identifying this white silicon hose on the driverside of engine. Looks to be coming from fan/airbox and connects to the bottom of the distributor. It got my attention because I saw duct tape peeling off. Upon further inspection, I noted PO covered up a hole along the side of the tubing. Looks like at one point this hose popped out and the abrasion scarred the tubing in two places (see pics). Tubing seems to have plenty of slack. Is it ok to cut where the duct tape is and re attach the distributor connector there? Or should I just buy a generic silicon tubing at parts store to replace it? Thanks in advance.

It's the fresh air supply to help reduce deterioration of the small belt that drives the second distributor. You are okay just cutting it and re-attaching so long as it's not kinked.

Distributor breather tube. You can replace it with any generic silicon tubing, or if the lenght permits, just cut off the part that got scored.

Vent hose for distributor belt. Pulls ozone out to prevent shortening of the life of the belt.

Might not even be that hard. You might need a new fitting for the distributor, it's hard to tell.
