Default Need feedback on car and dealer

I have started a search for a 993 Turbo and came across this one on Ebay.
I love the color combo, miles, and the pictures look good. I figured I would throw it out to the mercy of the forum.

Also, does anyone have feedback on Texas Toys? I have done a search and read some reviews both + and -.
PM me if you prefer.

Thanks
Tony

That kind of money, I'd get a detailed PPI, regardless of reputation.

Isn't that the place where "Barney" came from?

wow...70G's You should have no problem finding a very nice 993TT in that price range.

You hit the lottery?

Can't call that a slippery slope now, can we?

I hope to find a lower mileage, mostly stock. This one is 2 owner, major service just completed, dealer says it's "concourse". Haven't hit the lottery but I just bought a ticket, so it should be any day now..

Let's see, red TT, blue 993. All you need is a white C4.

Is there a theme going on out there in CO?

The car looks great! BOL

The car looks great in the pictures - but it was discussed in one of the barney threads - serious alarm bells go off when looking at the history report:
07/30/2004 CYPRESS, TX 19,824 Independent Emission Source FAILED EMISSION INSPECTION

02/01/2005 CYPRESS, TX Motor Vehicle Dept. REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL Reported registered/titled prior to storm event in FEMA designated storm area. We recommend a professional vehicle inspection to confirm no storm damage.

07/26/2005 HOUSTON, TX 19,950
19,983 Independent Emission Source FAILED EMISSION INSPECTION
FAILED EMISSION INSPECTION
And then it's been driven 19 miles in 5 and a half years... those would be known as "Things that make you go hmmm"...

Favourite colour though.

Some more history told to me by dealer...

Dealer stated the car was part of a collection sitting in air conditioned warehouse last 5 years. Owner brought it in for major service, and replaced belts, clutch, seals..then bought the car from the owner and now reselling. I asked about the FEMA, and he stated that he had no idea what that implied.

Great points and discussed these with him. He had answers for most, except the FEMA. Obviously he could be lying through his cheeks, not sure. Love the color combo, but having a hard time with the red flags too.

FWIW, hurricane Rita hit east Texas in 2005, right after Katrina hit N.O. Wasn't much of an event in Houston, but put a scare in us. Ike did hit Houston in 2008. If you get as far as a PPI, I'd alert the shop to look for flood type damage. Houston can have floods, with and w/o hurricanes. Ken

If it's in your price range and the color combo is right for you, then why not take a closer look and pursue it further? If it all comes thru okay then make an offer. You've been there done that already Tony

I never knew there was a color called Virgin Red

Also the name of the place and all those cutesy/sleazy used car type slogans they use are a bit much for me and a turn-off. But hey, if the car is right then it's the right car.

The Title section is left blank in the ad. Find out from the dealer if it is a clean or salvage / rebuilt title before proceeding any further...

With all due respect to the Barney saga, wouldn't that raise some alarms if it came from the same dealer? I mean, Barney had some pretty good damage that went unnoticed or disclosed for quite a while. Just sayin ...

Im with 1pcarnut. The Barney damage in my mind was a daming black mark against whomever sold that car as a "minter". As nice as the colour is to you dont let it blind you...

Im also suprised that a 993tt comands tht kind of money in the US these days. Even with the low miles and the depreciating US Scheckle in our market that would b about spot on - and 993s are about 30% cheaper in the US than ROW (and they are about 35% less new in your countr than the UK , NZ , AU or just about anywhere else!).

70k usd for a bog standard 993TT with no sport seats or carbon. Man thats double what a similar miles 993 C2 6spd would be worth right? Heck looking at ebay thats a pack of **** and a Bud a day for year way from owning a 997.1 GT3 2007 with 18500 miles on it. Do you want a 993TT that bad? Tough decisions....
