2012 Porsche 911 - even LARGER than the 996/997
Not my favorite magazine, but according to Car And Driver:
"Porsche's next 911, known internally as the 991, marks a big change for the iconic model.
Big, that is, in terms of size. While it rides on a thoroughly reworked version of the current 996/997 platform, it will be visibly larger."

Yeah, put a 993 side by side with a 997 and it is already noticeably larger. I guess people are getting bigger, plus people want all the gizmos in their car these days. The space has to come from somewhere. Shame.

on the other hand, I think we must applaud porsche for keeping the weight down.
the 997 is already similar if not a bit lighter than the 993 and I believe the new model is rumored to be even lighter.
If so, thats a great achievement.

I am so glad Stuttgart opened their eyes to the modern car buyer..... who needs to go fast, stop quick and maneouvere like a greyhound when there is the option for 20 fare-paying passengers, baby seats, removable double-foam iron beach chairs, a capuccino machine in a range of colours, a donkey's good looks all in at a svelte 2.5 tons / 5000 pounds.
Why open their designs to those that dream a vivid reincarnation of a legend, when Porsche make large profits from those who choose from a generic range of models differing in their neon light outlines or their 15 different engines available between 3 and 4.5 litres? The new Bloatmobile may be to offset the 918 which has almost destroyed the sedentary sedan image.
Was there once an independent project about 5 years ago to design a Porsche, where many enthusiasts added their thoughts anddesigns on a forum?
