And worse than the harsh ride is that the car will deflect on small bumps when cornering. Way too much compression dampening with the Bilstein HDs IMHO.

I've now thrown away my HD's and got back to Monroes with M033 springs.
The ride's nice and it sits nice and low.

For anyone considering Koni's, the sale runs until May 31 but is limited to in-stock inventory at dealers (from what I've been told).

I would suggest the PSS10's. The reason most people love them is because they can be dialed in to suit your tastes. You may also find your needs/taste change over time. With the PSS10's you can re-adjust them easily.

I have Bilstein HD and H&R springs. They are livable, but I agree with others here that they have a bit too much compression damping. the install is expensive due to an alignment/corner balance, even if you put them in yourself. If I did it over I would strongly consider KWs or maybe PSS10. I think the Konis are probably good, but you can't really adjust ride height. I have Koni yellows in my 968 and they are better for an all arounder, I think.

I went for M030 with Bilstein HD, love it. If I had to do it all over again I'd go KW V3

The ride height is just right to keep from bottoming out on the road. You still need to be careful though. The floating bouncing feeling from dips on the interstate is gone. Steering feels more connected. For the price this is a hard set up to beat with the 20% sale going on at Koni. You should be able to get shocks and springs for $1300ish. I am very happy with the set up.
Craig, was there any issue getting the ride height dialed in? From what I've seen, the Konis don't have the threads, or amount thereof, of other shocks. I'm leaning toward the FSD/ROW MO33 combo.

Tif's in Annapolis installed ROW M033 springs and Koni FSD's, corner balance and K-toe alignment. I am thrilled with the results. He also installed Gert's front protection bar. I've seen lower 993's than mine is now, and I think they look really cool but at 65 mine is quite low enough.....Chris

I recently went from USA M032 + Boge's to ROW M033 and HD's and I like it ... so far. My previous car, 85 911 coupe, had Koni sports w/ stock torsion bars. I could feel every pebble in the road. This new set up on the 993 is not harse but it isn't necessarily overly compliant. I go to the track in a week for the real test.

For me the best advice was ... ride in several cars before you make the change. If money were no object I would have gone with KW V3's.

Good luck with your choice ...

I have a spare set of Koni Yellows if anyone's interested. I mounted them but never actually drove the car with them on as I wanted more ride height adjustment and went with PSS10s.

This thread was very informative. I was set on Bilstein HDs w/ M030, then started leaning towards M033 because I will probably never track the 993, and I wanted to get it nice and low, but still have the gf tolerating the ride.

Now, Im leaning towards the Koni FSD w/ M033...any downside to this? Height adjustibility is the the only thing I see, but I dont really care about being able to slam it - I just want a nice, aggresive stance.

I drove a couple of the HD/MO30 set ups and thought it was very nice for street even DD.

Euro Mo33, a lowered OEM feel.

PSS/9's maybe a bit too firm for a DD.

Never had a chance to try the KW V3's yet.
All I hear is great things from people that know there stuff.

I have had bad times with Koni shocks leaking, that was back in the 951/930 days. May be another story now. But I wouldn't put them on my personal car for the history I have had with them.

I agree. Do not go with the HDs. I have HDs + M033 set up, and its very harsh.
I'll eventually replace the shocks. The ride height on the other hand is much improved....
