Hi Chuck,
I bought the standard DE units off Amazon since most of the extras were not going to be needed. (brackets, switch, wiring, etc.) Then upgraded the bulbs to a true white (PIAA)
There was a fair amount of cutting, molesting, slicing and glue...but did it all with a Dremel and regular attachments. (All in all took about 2 hours after ducts were painted)
Is this modification to eliminate any "slop" in the steering wheel? If so, why would there be so much slop in the first place? (looking at cross/section shown on thread) If setting a bolt in the tie rod ends is needed, would an allignment also be in order to "true" up each side?

Unless there is a problem with your steering rack, yes it takes out slop. Best way to describe it was that the steering feel (when car is moving) is tighter, more feel, more responsive. You move the steering wheel 1mm, the car immediate moves 1mm.
I didn't have to do any trueing up when I pinned the tie rods. When you do the bushings, mark all the bolt locations/settings.
New control arms cleaned up and clear coated. Walrod bushings installed. All going in this week with new beefy front sway bar, tie rod roll pins and stiffer motor mounts. Woo Hoo!
