Default C2S rear decklid questions

Gents...I'm looking at possibly picking up a C2S which has the aero kit (Turbo s style tail) and I'd want to remove and go with a flat decklid with split grill.

How difficult and costly would it be to go to the motorized spoiler vs the fixed one?

It looks like there is no button on the center console for manual operation which leads me to believe this was a factory optioned car.

Any idea on the best place to source the rear decklid?

Appreciate your thoughts on this...

Thanks

I just posted a few minutes ago that I bought a split grill decklid with all parts from LAPD. I had to get it painted, but even with the paint, I think the entire project cost around $1000...I've seen regular decklids go for $300 - $500...check for sale areas here and pelican.

by the way, mine had the button so all I had to do was plug it in. without that option, it will probably be more difficult.

My spoiler control button is all the way to the right on the bottom row of the button cluster.

Might also try http://www.weekendrides.com/ (Rick) in PA, just picked up a seat hinge cover there. They may have what you need.

finding a used decklid will be the easy part..with a standard grill I mean. Finding a used split grill might be tougher. There are about 6-8 dismantlers you could try, they do pop up from time to time afterall.

Naturally, the split grill is available still from Porsche. Sunset had the cheapest set at like $480 IIRC.

Always somebody looking for the split grill afterall, but...I have seen about 6 go up for sale in the last year.

You might even find somebody to trade you for the aero tail.

Good Luck!

Hi,
You will need to check if the control module to control the rear deck lid is still under the dash, on a right hand drive car, looking from under the dash, it is behind the glovebox.
You can also check if the wiring/plug is behind where the switch should be in the console.

I have a fixed wing on my 993 C2 and all the wiring is there.

Thanks,

Here is a standard deck-lid assembly if you are still in the market: (no affiliation)

I have a complete artic silver decklid (engine cover, grill, spoiler, motor assembly) for sale; it is basically "plug and play." Since the OP lives near me, I'd be happy to deliver it to him for free. I acquired it just prior to tracking down the original deck lid from the owner who had stored his in a garage for 12 years.

I will bump the ad in the member's section if anyone else is interested.
