Nice, how long did it take you to get those heat shields off?

WOW!
Macca you are good.
You are exactly right.

Gasser, I tried to remove the head shield; but, they were made of some NASA high strength space age metal.
I let the local muffler shop struggle with the sheilds.
I was excited to get all the bolts off the headers without breaking or stripping one.
Here is a picture before ceramic coating

Hi Keith. What was the prize? :-)

Ive been wondering some time when you were going to dump those and save some weight - especially as you have no blower or a/c. They tidied up really well with the ceramic coating....

Did you dump the clutch breather hardware yet?

Lastly - mate your car is looking cleaner and cleaner under there each time you post. We see it in the same place on those stands and I cant help but wondering do you drive it any longer? Have you caught Andreasitis? -P

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is the point in removing the heat boxes? Reduce weight? Wouldn't it be good to get rid of the OEM cat then?

Did you ceramic coat the headers on the inside as well? I'm guessing the exhaust fumes travels faster with the ceramic coating on?

Looks great either way

Lookin good Kevin.

Sometime in the next month or so I am going to borrow my buddies scales and re-cornerbalance my car. If you want I can let you know when I get them and we can weigh your car. I'd love to know what you have it down to.

Hey M, no prize. But if you are ever in the states and near St. Louis, Missouri, I would love to buy you a beer and talk cars.

I did get rid of the clutch breather snorkel. I powder coated the new tin.
See attach picture.

M... I drive my car ALOT. As you can see from the odometer. I just replaced that one gear that goes bad.
I just take alot of pictures during December and January when I do its yearly overhaul.

Forgot the odometer picture.

Viggo, I like to keep the car as simple as possible.
I also like to maintain and restore. The powder coating and ceramic coating that I do on the car is alittle overkill, but I think it is worth it.
JCM ceramic coating did the job.
Great job; however, do not be is a hurry.
It took almost 1 1/2 months to do.

Erik, THANKS!
We have a scale locally.
thanks though.

Great mod! Ceramic has very good point in 993's, reducing temperature under bonnet as much as 50 degrees C. And not emitting heat when car is standstill, because of 30% less surface temperature compared to stock exhaust components.

The stock headders are really good. I took mine off and tried to remove the heat shield to save weight. Cut my finger and got ticked and just bought some. My buddy had a shop remove the shields and he did as you did. I gave them to him for his 964 RSA race car and they made awsome power over his stock system. For mine, I put on Fabspeed headders with a better collector and all equal length but probably did not make any more power but when I build my next RSR motor, they will help there since they are slightly bigger and probably flow better at higher horspower than stock. Time will tell. at least their shiny

And yes, we did have to cut the flange off on one side and flip them to get them to fit the 964. Not a bid deal!
