I owned a 96 turbo PTS Arctic Silver over Flamenco Red. The option code and COA both confirmed the PTS, and it was Arctic, not Polar.
The car was featured in an Excellence article "Porsches Under $60k" a few years ago (lost to a Cayman S).
The PO had spent some money making it a turbo S lookalike with front spoiler, yellow calipers, optic silver wheels (kept those), and perfectly installed rear fender turbo S brake ducts.

Confirmed.
Arctic Silver is indeed faster than Polar Silver, much faster than red, yellow or any other color for that matter.
Simply put, Arctic Silver while better looking and richer than Polar, can still "blend in" under the radar of most law enforcement with speed monitor equipment.
I even read on the internet somewhere that women are more attracted to Arctic Silver as it has been discovered that this particular color tends to effect the heart rate and circulation.

R. S. I admire your taste in 993s. I have had 2 Silver/Red 993s and, while not to everyone's taste, it is perhaps my favorite color combination. Masculine on the outside, feminine on the inside.
The only aspect that did not work for me was the carpeting, which could be covered to a large degree by floormats.
I am heading over to look at an Arctic Silver/Black 98 C2S in about an hour, so I may be rejoining the board. Wish it was as well-equipped as yours.

Hmmm, I just realized I need new pics as the slippery slope has struck my fog-lights & corners since I took these....

How can one find out how many vehicles were painted in each color in a MY?? I own an Arctic Silver 1998 C2S MT with black interior. How many cars exist in US market like this? Would Porsche NA know?? Thanks in advance brother (and sister) arctic silver owners. Btw... "very fast".

My '95 cab is a Paint to Sample (PTS) in Silver Metallic, color code 982. It was a color Porsche used from 1986 to 1990. I couldn't figure out why they paid $2,490 for a PTS option that was just a shade or two lighter than Arctic Silver until I found that Arctic Silver wasn't available. Still, nearly $2,500 for a silver PTS? And, for the additional $2,490 PTS option the cab is no faster than a standard color!
