9,000 miles?!? Where do you find these cars? Mine has 90,000 and drives great so I'm not complaining - I just feel bad for the guy who had the car for 15 years and only enjoyed 9,000 miles...

I too have had the same problem with the oil level gauge. I just had my 60K service done and the mechanic changed the oil so I know that the level is fine but the gauge always reads at about 1/4 if that makes sense?? I have noticed before that while driving it will fluctuate between the 1/4 mark and empty! I thought it was until I checked the dipstick. Next oil Change I am going to bend the little rod on the oil level sender to make the gauge read correctly!

I've noticed that my oil level gauge doesn't read correctly until the temp is close to 9 o'clock on the temp gauge and the thermostat opens.

Great pic ...thanks for that!!

So, how much does one bend for the first shot at it? Say, 1/2" drop at the float? Or 3/4" drop? Who has done the trial/error?

Fully warmed, my gauge is near center (9 oclock) and drops in red zone when driving. I know its not low on oil cuz I can see oil level thru oil fill opening several inches down the neck.

This is very interesting. I basically ignore my oil gauge. I will have to try bending the rod a little.

I also just noticed on my car the flex tube in the oil filler tube is broken. I think it is #61 on the diagram Vince posted. Has anyone else had to fix this?

thanks,

I bent it with between a 1/4" to 1/2" drop - did not actually measure. The guage was reading in the red with 1/2 on stick (the loonng stick ). When done, it read about 2/3s. Problem is that now, the guage reads in the red again. Not sure what is going on. Rely on the stick.

My gauge corresponds to the dipstick pretty close to where I like it. But on next oilchange, I think I will try for 1/4" drop. Thanks for that, Vince ...I appreciate it!
