What engine oil to use in a 993
There has been much talk about what oil to use in a 993 Carrera,
Synthetic or Mineral oil?
Then what viscosity should be used?
Thanks

All I'll say is, after much research, the only oil that nobody got upset over using was:
Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40
...as it's an older API approval of SL, is a proper synthetic, and is/was on the Porsche approvals list.
Good luck with the bun-fight that will follow.
ps you should make it clear that you live in a warm climate (for the viscosity), as some people might not notice your location.

Canola oil, but in an emergency, vegetablel oil.
Corn oil is only recommended if you are running E85 gasoline.
Extra virgin olive oil is probably overkill.
But, on a slightly more serious note, oil threads very seldom come to a consensus...the ones in the 996 turbo forum come to mind...those are a blast to moderate at times.
