After installing seat rail extensions on the passenger side several months ago got around to completing the drivers side today. I'm 6'1" and now actually need to move the seat a little forward to be able to fully depress the clutch.
Seat rails from R. P. Mack Motorsports at 616 844 4162. The rails are made from bar stock and also raise the seat about a half inch. Installation took about 45 minutes.
These rails move the seat back another inch and a quarter from the most rearward bolt position on the track. See pictures attached

After reading your post several months ago, I contacted Ron at R. P. Mack Motorsports and purchased a set for the passenger side. What a difference it made for my wife now that she can stretch her legs out. She now enjoys a lengthy ride in comfort. Installation was very simple, unbolted the seat but did not have to remove it from the car. Put in the new rails, bolted the seat back down in under 1 hour. A well made and finished product by Ron, highly recommend for more leg room. Mike

Does this give more rearward positioning of the seat than changing to the rear set of mounting holes? I mean when one unscrews the hex bolts and moves the seat mount to the rearward set of holes. I've done this on the drivers side of my car. I'm 6'3" and it helped. I haven't done anything on the passenger side yet and was going to tackle that soon, but I don't even know if there are two sets of mounting holes for that seat. If these seat rail extensions provide more legroom, I'd be very interested.

Hmmm... Would these be useful in installing a fully electric 996/997 seat into a 993? Makes me wonder.
Do you have detailed pictures of the rails and associated parts? Also, what's the cost?

Steve:
Your passenger seat also has two sets of mounting holes and can be moved back. The seat rail extensions are set up to move the seat back another one and a quarter inch back from the rear holes provided oem in the track. Also, interesting to note that there is less legroom on the passenger side of a 993 than the drivers side. I never realized this because I never rode in the passenger seat. After my spouse complained, I checked it out and couldn't believe the lack of leg room. The rail extensions will get you an extra 1.25 inches of leg room.

Not sure about the 996 question. I think Ron Mack told me that he had someone else ask him about 996 seats and that the track is different. The only parts involved for extending the 993 seats are the new rails and fastners. The rails act somewhat like a shim and simple bolt to the existing track in the car. I'm not sure what Ron is charging for the rails you will need to call him at the number above.

Im 6'4'' and my solution was, as previously posted, to move the seat to the last OEM holes for another half an inch. Then I went to an auto interior specialist who removed the steel rods inside the seats that create a "bucket" feel. This allowed me to drop down another inch height-wise, excellent option when using helmet in auto cross.
I considered rail extensions like yours, but the problem is that the 911 roof starts slanting down behind you very quickly. In essence, the further back you go, the less head room you have. Im glad it worked out for you, but in my case I made a healthy compromise. I'd love to have more leg and head room, but under the circumstances Im comfortable and practically reached the limits of these mods.

Z, thanks!
There is an issue with _power_ seats from 996/997 that several of us had tried to figure out. At the very least it gives me an idea. I'll call Ron and talk to him. It'd be really cool if this worked.

Mike, also looking for alt installation for a set of 07-GT3 seats-no power. Another Rennlister pointed out that FVD makes some interesting adapters:

Also like the "Mack" solution.
The search continues!!

Jim, the non-powered seat install is pretty close to a no-brainer from what I've heard and read. There are several step by step instructions of how to modify the rails. So I don't know if it's worth spending money on FVD kit (I've seen pics of it, not much there).
The power forward/backseats are another animal altogether. The worm gear that runs inside the rail prevents a simple bolt-in of any sort. I know it's been done and I was told by no less of an authority than Robin of p-cars,com that it was a real pain beyond being worth it. Which is too bas as I have a great set of heated seats with lumbars and all the bells and whistles from an almost new 997 seating here...

Hi guys, I know this is an old thread but having just purchase a 993 Turbo with Sport Seats I was looking for extra room(6’2” long legs). Any help or leads to a solutions would be helpful. If anyone has a set of the RP Mack for sale feel free to reach out.

Have you reinstalled the seats on the rear most OEM mounts? I’m 6’4”, and that worked for me. You will also benefit from a dish steering wheel like the Momo Mod 7, which allows you to stretch back a bit and still have the wheel at hand. Sport seats are awesome. A bit heavy, but my favorite stock seat by far. Much more grip than the 993 hardback seats.

Actually the seats I have are the hardback seats. Not sure if I reinstall them it will work because the hardbacks are already touching the side of the rear footwell. Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it.
