Default OT: Tire Rack

Guys, if you're ever in need of tire assistants, suggest you give Damon a call at Tire Rack.

Damon did an AWESOME job helping my wife get a new set of tires for her IS350!

I've ordered 4-5 sets now from them and had good luck. Haven't used Damon, just gone on-line, checked out the tests and surveys then decided. Just ordered a set last night as a matter of fact for the Volvo. Watch, this time they'll lose them or something. Knock on wood.

my last tire set, the Hankook's for the C4S, I got from Discount Tire. Although TR was cheaper, Discount had free shipping.

I've bought from TR since the mid eighties, never had a problem. However, it's all about price, and availabilty.

I've also bought from TR since mid-80s and generally liked them a lot. However, in the past years they've pulled a couple of very unpleasant stunts with my orders (sending me 4-year old tires was one, canceling my order without explanation and after grilling them telling me that they've run out of a given tire was the other).

Granted, they've been apologetic and gave me a discount certificate after the first fiasco and explain that fresher tires in that model are not available, it soured me a bit. I've been buying mostly from Discount Tire Direct in the past few years. And I've been on a fence about TR. Although... in reality... I still consider them a very good, well run and well meaning company and will probably order from them again.

Damon has been very helpful when I've called him directly. I wouldn't bother with a PM when I can speak with him real-time.

So far, good experiences with Tire Rack. Same with Discount Tire when I ordered Nitto NT-01's.

I generally know what tires I want, so I frankly would shop for best price shipped.

Best,

Matt

I have had the same experience...perhaps he is too busy.

I have used Tire Rack for...as long as I can remember...sense 1988 or so? I have always had great service. I used to have a guy I worked with all the time but he went into the dealer sales area. Most of the folks that pick up the phone are OK but they will not go beyond the size recommendations that are listed.

I do not like the feel of the other online sources. Most of the local tire installers use TR anyhow. It is nice to be able to direct ship to your favorite installer.

Cheers!

I ordered a set from Damon with no problems. I initially emailed him and he asked me to call him. He returns calls. I'm guessing he is overloaded with emails and the old telephone is the best way to get quick service.
