Thanks. So, just to make sure I'm covered here...are we certain that

a) Shadow993's part will both fit my car AND solve my problem (based on the report I cited from my service advisor)

AND

b) That I can install this part with relative ease by myself

If the answers to those are yes and yes, then I'll go ahead and buy it.

Thanks again for all the help.

His ignitor will fit your car. Is his ignitor good, I have no idea so that is between you and Shadow. I believe the only tool you will need is a phillips head screwdriver.

I would do this test first, it might take you 30 minutes. Turn the key on and then turn on your headlights. Figure out which one of your lights is bad. Turn the lights off as well as the key. Pull both headlight units, there is a lever in the trunk along side each headlight. Pull the lever down and it releases the headlight unit from the car. Once you have the headlights out, release the metal retaining clip on the back of the unit and open the access door to the bulbs. You will see the ignitor wire attached to the low beam bulb, rotate it counterclockwise to remove it from the bulb. Remove the 2 screws holding the ignitor and exchange left for right. Put it back together and re-install the headlight units. Turn on the lights and if the opposite light now does not work, your problem is the ignitor.

Now you will understand how to replace the new one once you receive it. Good luck

Thanks so much. To my understanding, this is exactly what the dealership did. I'll PM Shadow and see if we can set it all up!

So I'm coordinating with Shadow993 to buy his litronic right side light with 2 ballast for $250. Just for reassurance, does somebody want to clarify for me that this should be what I need?

Thanks!

The ignitor is part of the light that I'm sending you. I don't think there are any other parts except the wire harness.

This should clear your problem. As mentioned before... When you are installing the new light, make sure the harness is in the light chasis. Mine was flickering one day and that was the problem.

Default clarification....

i have a set of the 993 Xenon igniters that go inside the lamp housings and a set of stock 4,300 k bulbs....

no wiring harness, just the igniters and bulbs.

i changed my lamps to 6,000 k and i'm running separate control units.

Luke @ Sunset Porsche says these are the second generation 2.1 series control units that do everything.... i had heard there was an additional ballast that goes with these lamps but according to Luke and the part numbers i provided, apparently not. anyway, these cost $700 + at your dealer, but Sunset Porsche has them in the $550 range.

if anyone is interested in having some spare igniters, please pm with offer. thanks !

od.

Would you mind posting a picture of your igniters?

ok, here they are...

they came off what i was told (by Luke at Sunset Porsche) of a pair of second generation lamps.

but who really knows ?

the lamps are the ones you all have been seeing on ebay from the seller in vermont.

i simply changed over to 6,000 k lights and never bothered with the oem 4,300 k lights

the numbers on the unused lamps are 993.631.051.01 and 993.631.052.02

the numbers of the igniters are 1.307.329.019 and 1.307.329.024

the '024' isn't easy to read in the photo becuase that part is lighty engraven.

In case you're wondering about the warning on it:

Zündgerät = Igniter unit

Nur mit Lampe betreiben! = Only operate with light!
