Default Identify these 993 body modifications

I've been trying to figure out what the heck this thing is with no luck. It looks like the hood is possibly from a 997 rather than 993? Again, I have no clue what the origin of this widebody is, but would like to know as I am trying to find a replacement hood.

Thanks in advance.

I think the hood is trying to copy the GT1 ... the side scoop sort of mimicks the 959.

So you guys are implying then that this is a one off set of modifications? Any comment on the hood possibly being from a 997? (I think this due to the lines of the hood where it meets the bumper. They are very rounded vs. the 993 and 996's sharp corners.)

The original GT-1 was based on the 993 chassis, so the hood could be a direct replacement, I am not really sure. if is is and it is OEM, I bet it is EXPENSIVE.

incidentally, I think it looks awful. if you are considering it for a street 993....well, don't...

NOT from a 997. It has the indent for the HVAC at the top center, & has the windshield squirters. Also the 997 hood is WAY bigger then a 993.

THIS IS A DUMB THING to install, you loose your trunk, & you can never drive int he rain, there is 0 performance benefit form this.

The rear arches have been messed with & the ducts look like they are trying to copy the Turbo S ducts.

That answers the hood question.

Secondly, it is definitely not OEM. It weighs approximately 50000 lbs and is extremely poorly constructed. Also the trunk is retained and air actually flows through the front grill and out via some ducting. Although it does not pass through anything that would require cooling, so it is pointless.

I am not considering installing this part, the customer wants to remove this part due to poor fitment and look at the thing! I was trying to do some background research to find out where it came from and what could replace it.

I wouldn't call it pointless in a racing environment. Venting this area could very well add some downforce and reduce drag by venting some of this high-pressure air up. A lot of race cars do that.

But yeah, for the street it's utterly pointless.

This is very real. I'll snap some more pics of this beast when I get a chance. I doubt the owner is terribly concerned with spring rates or tire pressures.
