Default Center Console

Has anyone painted their center console? I've got mine out of the car, but haven't started removing the vinyl yet.

if so, did everything go back together and look good? I concerned about the area around the shift boot and handbrake - without the thickness of the vinyl material, I'm wondering how it will look...

I think it'll look great. I picked up an extra console for $100 so I could paint it while keeping my original one intact. I had remove the vinyl and cleaned it up pretty good when I decided to go a different direction and get a 996tt. If you're nervous about it you could probably track an extra one down through the WTB forum. That's a safe bet, go for it! BTW I think I saw a painted console in one of Darin's avatars.

Did the inserts only, felt doing all of it would be too much:

"got most of the adhesive off " ... try either GooGone or 3M Adhesive Remover to get it all off. GL. Should look nice.

LOL - yes, I'm using 3M adhesive remover, I got all the outside surfaces, just need to get around the contours, and the underside

Consider ordering a spray can of Polar Silver (more than one paint code) from Paintscratch.com. While you're ordering, grab a can of SprayMax 2k catalyzed clear to finish the job.

I've never been disappointed with an order from Paintscratch. That said, I just purchased a case of Polar Silver (L92M) spray cans from a Sherwin Williams automotive paints dealer. If you'd like, I can arrange for one to get in your hands pronto.

thanks Andreas - I appreciate the offer. Actually this is getting rolled in with bumperette delete front & rear and painting a split grille acquired from Mark Harris

I actually bought a used spoiler for the conversion to split grille so I can retain the original...can't wait to get all this done

finally got it painted & back in the car. Was hard to get a picture - some of my friends suggested removing the seats & carpets so I could get a better shot - they're so helpful...

Looks good Jim! One question...isn't this supposed to be a "winter" project for you poor midwest folk...I mean, it is spring in KC and that means you need to put the projects away and DRIVE!!!

Split grill is gonna look sweet...but that Mark Harris guy...gotta watch out for him...he's shaddy
