Redblurr,

The infamous Bruce Canepa in Scott's Valley, California figured out how to get 959s to pass all the DOT requirements. He also upgraded their power considerably. Bill Gates had a 959 in impound for years, and was one of Canepa's first customers for the conversion.

Not a fan of 959. Cumbersome-looking is how I would describe it. It was overshadowed by my favourite car the F-40

Porsche 959 was a dream car from childhood as were 288GTO Ferrari and Ferrari F40. If the election were today I would chose the Ferrari. Which model is less important.

The 959 must be the grocery getter for one of the Ferrari guys.

Oh so their legal in the states now. Sweet, the only reason I bought a 993 was because the 959 wasn't available. Time to trade up! Yes I
Dreaming.

I've been to the Cavallino Classic the last 4 years, and have seen many cars driving around that can't be registered road legal. Especially when they used to host the super car weekend that same weekend over in West Palm.
2 years ago I saw a McClaren F1 LM pull out of the breakers, not sure if it was road registered.

I think this one is Bill's that was sitting at the local dealership. It had a $759k price on it if someone really had to have one. The 959 was definitely an iconic supercar when it first came out in 1986, unfortunately it wasn't received well received in the U.S. because of the stringent importation rules.

The car is essentially a 993 with wider body panels as you can see in the photographs with the technology under the body reflected in the 993 twin turbo and all wheel drive systems.
