I agree with Andreas, I've seen many pictures of recovered wheels and they rarely look factory. This is an exception though, very nice. Paul Champagne does great work too.

Hey Viggo,

Thanks! Yes, I did ask them to make both wheels thicker. As far as the material, it's leather, and the closest I can compare it to is Porsche's "supple leather." Definitely higher quality than the Audi leather interior that I have.

And no, AGLA does not fall into that category.

The steering wheel arrived today. It is exquisite. Feels like it came from the Sonderwunsch-Program. And it smells like brand new leather - love it! Can't wait to install it on the car.

First impressions - everything is aligned very well and symmetrical, the stitching is even, with no knots that you can see or feel on the back of the 9 and 3 position (a big pet peeve of mine), or anywhere else for that matter. The padding under the leather feels a tiny bit softer than my Audi. Not in a bad way, it's just very slightly different. The finger contours on the back of the steering wheel are almost gone - I didn't like them anyway. The new leather is much grippier, unlike the shiny leather before. Here are some iPhone pics, I'll post more when I install it in the next couple of weeks.

Very nice!!

Imagine if Alan Gunn's work looked one tenth as good as that. Nah, scratch that.

Daaaaang, that is awesome! I might have to do that one day when when the toy budget goes up. Exceptional craftsmanship there, thanks for posting.

Really nice, looking forward to pictures with the airbag mounted.
The price is also incredible, it costs me more than 200 USD just to have it shipped from Norway to Poland :S

Wow! Beautiful stitching and seam work there. I'm thinking a little business in Poland is going to get very busy!

Haha. Nice wheels. May be looking for another set int her near future.

The wheel looks freakin great. I've been pondering the idea of thickening the grip and recovering the wheel in my s2000 since I don't want to put a tuner type wheel with no airbag in that car (yet).
