Chassis frame damage near suspension mount
#16
I Owner, Coupe,50000 Miles, lowered suspension, No Dealer Service histories except the first 3 years ,but serviced regularly by independent German car Mechanic
The seller claims no accidents and original Paint
I haven't really spent much money on PPI, Carfax etc; I wanted to make sure that Car will be drivable in the future
The car is appears to be in good condition for naked & inexperienced person
Best Regards
Peter

With any car like a 993 you're buying the PO as much as the car itself. This one says run all over it.....
Plenty more without chassis issues for this sort of money or not much more. In the long run you'll be happier by skipping this one.....

Peter,
A 993 is a robust sports car, overbuilt in some ways.
There is no way in the history of the universe that this "original owner" is telling the truth. Impossible.
He is obviously looking for a sucker. I would advise you not to pursue this rolling question mark.

i'm guessing $3k+ to fix it (best case), plus $2k for all new front suspension parts, which are undoubtedly bent up too from a hit like that. There's a reason he's selling it "as is" -- he got the $6k estimate from his body shop and so he's looking for a sucker who thinks it's not that bad.
I'd say the car is worth maybe $18k. Could be a good race car starting point.

25K too much for this car.
The whole story has not come out yet.
Is that other lower panel in the picture cracked or just split at the seam?
What does the other tower look like. Is it about to fail or not a sign of failing. That would be a clue.
What about any of the suspension pick up points, A-arms, other damage. Looks like it was dropped off a cliff.
I can promise you a proper repair on this is thousands of dollars.

Oh an it probably goes without saying, but you should DEFINITELY NOT DRIVE THIS CAR in its current condition. If you value your life, that is. This owner is nuckin futs if he's driving it like that.

Just guessing looking at that there is at least 5k, probably closer to 10k damage to fix it proper.
Strip in all down in the front. It will have to go on a frame rack, replace a couple panels anyway. The tower is into the fuel tank. Any other damage, probably most likely, paint and reassemble the car. Yes it will need an alignment. Probably a strut... and who knows what else.

+10000. You can get a nice 75k mile car for $25k (I did, as did others here). He knows what happened, he just isn't telling. That's MAJOR damage.

Peter - is this a US car that has already been imported into Canada?
For $25k - even if the car is already in Canada - I would look for a straight unmolested car with a well documented history in the US. Even though you'll have to import it, duty, paperwork, etc... my bet is that you'll end up ahead compared to dealing with both known and unknown hassles with this car.

Why not buy Jford's car here on Rennlist? It's a helluva car with a very rare transmission.
