Car won't start after battery died! What do i do?
Hi,
So my car has been sitting in my garage for 3 weeks now and i haven't touched it.
Thankfully my doors were unlocked so i jumped in the car yesterday to see if anything at all lit up. Nothing does.
So i got someone to come and boost me and the car just won't start.
All the lights lit up and when i turn the key i get this really weird clicking sound.
Can anyone help me out?
Why won't the car turn on? What the hell is that clicking sound? And mainly what's the solution.
Thank you all in advance for your help

If the battery is fully charged, cycle your door locks. Assuming you have a factory alarm on it.

Key in the door locks, lock and unlock it a couple of times each side.

if you are getting a clicking sound from the engine/starter area then as payam said, the battery is weak.
That sound is the solenoid cycling but there isn't enough juice to turn the engine over.
You could try charging ythe battery before replacing it
good luck!

+1. If it is an immobilizer issue, there is no clicking at all because the alternator relay does not even get the signal.

Yes, if there is clicking thats indicative of low power from the battery. Try putting battery on a trickle charger and leave overnight. If you still have problems take the battery into the Canadian equivalent of Autozone and have it load tested. Maybe the cold temps have finally killed off the battery.
Word of advice, if you don't plan on using a car, or bike for that matter, always keep it on a trickle charger. If the battery is allowed to drain excessively you'll have problems getting it to charge back up and hold charge.

Do you have a Digital Multi Meter?
Do you have a battery charger?
That clicking sound is from the starter solenoid...and it cycles because the battery has enough power to engage the solenoid, but the minute it does that, it closes the starter circuit which draws lots of current, causing the battery voltage to collapse, thereby causing the starter solenoid to release, causing the battery voltage to rise again...and the cycle starts all over again. That was easy.

maybe mine is different, but the only time i have to turn the ignition on and press the button is when i try to start it w/o unlocking the doors (like when it has been in the garage). I just lock/unlock the doors with the remote and it starts right up. I suppose if you live somewhere where you have to lock the car, you would not even know it has an immobilizer. Also, FWIW, if you leave the key in the ignition, the immobilizer is bypassed (but your car may be gone).
