This thread has me very intrigued. When I bought my Targa, the seller claimed that it was the last Targa shipped to the US. Knowing I was getting a good deal, I didn't spend time researching this. The last four digits of my VIN are pretty high - 5176. Is there any way to confirm the build date or the seller's claim?

The build date will be on the door jam of the car, so that's easy. Where in the line of cars yours falls in terms of the "last" Targa will be more difficult to determine. That's kinda what I think we're trying to determine here...but specifically for NB coupes...is who (at least on here...which is quite a few people) has the latest build NB coupe.

Interesting...mine is a '97 with a serial (last 4 of the VIN) of 1864....and levtron's is a '96 with a serial of 3647. It seems like the serial numbers are "reset" at the beginning of each model year. So I'm betting the Derrific's car with serial 3031 is a '96 model...?

^^^This is where the actual build date, as it appears on the driver's door jamb "stamp", is of greatest importance.
As Allen states, 12/96 is latest so far.......anyone else?
