Tell her after a few years it will pay for itself and also you are less likely to end up under the car - unless you have a huge life insurance she will inherit she would be OK with it I would buy the one with a sturdier base though.

All you need is plates about 18" long. There isnt very much travel in the rear rollers. I used mine for a year without plates and had no wear. I bought a couple scrap pieces of 8" x 24"pieces 3/16" thick and its way more than enough.

My rollers just ripped up the epoxy on the floor below them. Darnit. Still, I wouldn't pay $100 for a fix. I'll just pick up a $15 piece of steel from home depot or something.
