Default SAI removal?

After dropping my engine today, I found the check valve and associated hose for the SAI system badly corroded. Actually not even attached to each other anymore. So, before I spend $80 for a valve, and $20 for the hose; What happens if instead I just remove the whole SAI fan assembly? It's an OBD1 '95 C2. will I get a check engine light when the SAI pump doesn't show up to the computer? If not, what do I put where the check valve was?

With a '95 no CEL issues at all. Does FL have smog testing? Do they do a visual (not that non porsche people know what to look at). If not, order the plugs from Patrick Motorsport ($14.00) and get rid of the SAI.

Thanks Andreas! I found that thread right after I posted...It'l be gone by noon tomorrow. Today I dropped the engine, did the plug wires, fuel filter, distributors, and rotors. Tomorrow it's valve cover gaskets, cam tower gaskets, LWF, RS clutch stuff. Hopefully back in on Wednesday!

Rick, if you remove the SAI junk, would you sell me the steel lines that go from the manifold to the cam towers? I'm going to attempt re-plumbing the SAI to the exhaust further downstream and need some pipe/ fitting to play with. Partick motorsports sells the plugs where the lines enter the cam towers for about $15.00 and you can remove the entire useless system.

You can have the long one that goes to the driver's side for free. However, the pax side small pipe didn't survive the procedure....
Get me your shipping info.

If you take all that crap off a OBD-2 car can you not trick the computer somehow to ignore that? Anyway to do that with a Durametric?

My son is looking for a nice 993 and we've kind of limited the search to a '95 to avoid OBD-2 but have done a few computer mods to his Cayman S to avoid the CEL coming on- couldn't that be done to a '96+ 993?

Why I ever sold my '95 coupe with factory sport seats and 030 is beyond me now... oh well, wish I had several of the cars on my "gone" list!!

You can build a SAI emulator to simulate the O2 readings the ECU is expecting.
