I've installed two 3-in-1 Alpha Omega Elite seats in the back of my Targa for my 4 year old and 2 year old.
They hold real secure and tight if you use the latch belt it comes with and secure it somewhat differently than it was designed. I've been doing it this way for years.

The Evenflo Tribute 5 fits well. This seats a bit more of a Economy seat.
I passed on it to buy a Evenflo 65. Much better build but it's going to take a bit of shoe horning it in.

Here's the info on the Alpha Omega Elite car seat by Safety 1st (also has been marketed as a Cosco brand seat).

It costs around $150 and works as a rear and forward facing modes from 5 lbs up to 40 lbs. Obviously it won't fit in rear seat in rear-facing mode. But is has a fully adjustable 5 point harness and adjustable head rest. It also comes is quite a few color options so I got a terrific match for my polar silver targa. Quite impressive.

The space is not that great so the kids need to know to let their feet drop down and not kick the front seat backs. I don't think any one car seat will fix that problem. There's simply not that much leg room in the back of a Porsche.
But this is the same problem I see on most every car. Our 7 seater Volvo SUV also has that problem.

My parents had a 1971 VW 411 wagon... no A/C but I toughed it out on long road trips in back cargo space over the motor.
It was a step up from the early '60s Beetle w/o seatbelts... I'd outgrown the storage pocket between the backseat and rear window.
That said, I think it's pretty cool being a kid these days, even if strapped in all the time... cupholders, DVD players, iPod/Touch/Phone, etc. And if bored, and if close enough, you can still reach over and whack your siblings.
