What setup are you looking to run (regarding injector / ECU config or piggy back)?

A DC-area guy was selling his SC on a local forum ... but I just realized that it sold ... sorry.

Here was the link:

Good luck finding one! You will LOVE it!

I bought/owned a 993 that had a TPC supercharger; it did not grow on me and I ended up selling the car. It was my impression that the supercharger made the Porsche much harder to sell. Was wondering what your thought process was and perhaps I can save you some buyer's remorse. Good luck either way.

IIRC, the "Other Eric" was selling one.

Just looking for more power without an expensive gear box change or engine modification. If I don't like it, I could always pull it off. After driving a newer 911, I enjoyed the power, but not the car.

Shadow-- Good luck with this pursuit, & please keep us in the loop.
S/Cs seem rare to find used, but the challenge just makes the hunt more fun
Immediate torque from a stand-still sounds even more fun

FYI, it was a turbo kit: TheOtherEric's "My Protomotive Stage 1 twin turbo kit is [SOLD]" thread.

Sounds like you're talking about a 993TT.

I inquired about the turbo, but thought there might be an issue with computer mapping. His is a 95 with a chip. My understanding is you can't chip 96-98.

Tjangi, what is your impression of the Promotive Stage 1 setup? If you compare to before the conversion, is there sigificantly more lag with this setup? Or is it more like a NA engine up (e.g good engine response, not much lag) until 4K when the turbo kicks in? I take it it's a single turbo setup..

The SC seems to give instant power in low and mid range but less TQ in the mid to high rpm range (if you compare to the turbo setup).

Viggo-- Speaking of TheOtherEric (above), his "How to decide: TPC supercharger or Twin Turbo conversion? Detailed analysis" thread may be useful for your questions & Shadow's interest.
Eric preferred an aftermarket turbo kit vs. a supercharger for his track car, so go in knowing that.
My interests are for street use, & the following from Eric's opening post pique my curiousity

The additional torque with TPC's setup would be great for street driving.
V- Check for my PM re: a different subject.

BillC3 had a TPC unit and intercooler for sale in late August for about $6-7K. I checked with TPC on installation costs, and despite DIY encouragement from Ilko and others, the $10K total cost caused me to pass. About that time I decided I needed to improve me as opposed to the car. Spending money on video, data and maybe professional coaching in the spring will hopefully be more productive, but I still fantasize about the supercharger that got away! The Other Eric presents s compelling argument, but I don't think the turbo solves my 993's low-end torque issue on the track. Some solution - either thru the SC or different gearing - is in my future... just not sure when.
