What a coincidence. I have a modified 2000 996 done 10k km. With the titanium terminogis + chip etc it sounds not dissimilar to the 993. Loud, hollow, lovely! I almost bought a used Bayliss version 998 like you have. Lovely bike. I will be selling mine soon as I dont use it much at all....

Now I am

What is your car in the avatar....looks lowered. I thought ROW height are the lowered ones and only the NA cars were SUV style.

Mine was an RG 500 Gamma. Not the most HP back then, but at 95 HP, by far the most HP per liter with it being a 500 cc engine. At 340 pounds, I'm still wondering what all the talk is about nowadays when they use the words "light weight".

It was a fun little motorcycle.

Correct. Mine was ROW factory stock (Monroe etc). Its now Bilstein HD (with 30mm extra front shock thread) lowered as far as that set up will allow with Mo30 ROW sports spriints and factory adjustable RS cars and drop links. Running RS height + 10mm at front and + 5mm at rear.

ROW factory stock is lower than North American factory stock which I believe is known as SUV height and which the OPs concern is based if I understand camlob correctly. As a Japanese export market car his 993 would have been fitted as standard with ROW Monroes which are likely shot by now in any case. I think the photos from the auction room make the car look higher again - how it isnt as hight as NA spec SUV.

Not sure what Canada got but as you guys are a cut above the rest hopefully ROW spec ;-)

Cheers

Based on my stock 993 in the avatar, we got the NA ride height which is fine by me.
