That's right! Bow where to look? Fuse must be ok because there's only one and the driver's door works...

Can I 'manually' roll up the window by connecting any of the pins on the 'block' that is coming out of where the switch goes in the door panel?

Ok, let's figure this out.

You have three switches, they are identical to each other. Use two known good switches. Put one in the "passenger door switch" position on the driver's door and one into teh passenger door itself. See if the passenger door operates.

As I understand it, the passenger door switch won't work if the driver door switch is removed (or maybe if any of the three are removed?). Gee that's helpful...

As Mike suggested, try two known good switches in some combination of two positions,. You could also put the bad switch back in (as long as it's not totally screwed up) and you should be able to move the windows up and down.

No switch will now work in the passenger window! And Of course the window is down! How do I test if the window motor works? I assume I need to just connect 'some' of the male pin ends together with an alligator clipped wire. I dOnt want to 'practise' on it though. Anyone know what to do to get the window up?

put the bad switch in the driver's door for the drivers window and the two working switch in the other two slots and see if that works.

I remember if one is missing something does not work right, but I don't remmeber exactly!!

Best of luck.

See attached PDF for wiring of window switches. It has wire colors and pin numbers.

Thanks! But do you know which ones I should connect? I'm not good at deciphering these.

If driver's door "passenger window switch" is missing, the passenger side door would not operate. If the driver's door "driver's window switch" is missing, the pass window will operate fine.

I've had good luck with the aftermarket switches I've gotten from AutohausAZ. Replaced both on the driver's side in both the previous '97 cab and also did it on the current '97 coupe. None have given me problems so far. Even if I had to replace them twice as often they're still cheaper than Porsche's switches.

The switch isn't missing, just doesn't work. I bought one new switch and tried it in the driver's door window: works. Put the other good one in the passenger door: doesn't work. I have a broken one in the driver door passenger switch. Guess they all need to work therefore I need another switch? Correcto?

Thanks for all your help!

911 window switches blow... OEM or after market doesnt matter...in my 86, I went through probably 10 in 3 years...and my 993 probably 5 or 6 in 5 years...just a crappy design that will break, particularly in a cab where you roll the windows down with the top down... grr

Anyway to the previous question, Chapron 67, when one switch dies on my 993, then that window will not open with the master switch until you fix the on that broke...I dont have the schematic, but it appears that they are on the same circuit and when one part of the circuit is down then the neither work until that one part is fixed.... so moving the broken switch to the other side doesnt fix the problem you need to get a new switch..

Nope. The driver's window switch is electrically unrelated to the two passenger window switches AFAIK.

You should have two known good switches installed, both in positions to control passenger window. Try to use either to get the window up. If it does not go up, you have a bad motor or bad wiring from switches to motor.

Yes, that's it. Both passenger switches need to be working or even the one good one won't work! Now where so I get a good new one with best price!?
