993 Weight Gain
I've read a lot of posts about taking pounds off of these cars, but can't say I've seen anyone talk about adding weight.
Went to lunch with a co-worker since he'd never ridden in a Porsche and was curious. He is 6'3" and just shy of 300 pounds. He was talking about how nice the car was and how quick we were able to get on the highway from the service road. I kept thinking that the car got slower. Point of reference makes all the difference.
I guess the bottom line its that if anyone wants to see what a difference a 300 pounds can make then take a large friend for a ride. If you want a real eye opener, put three boxes of copier paper behind the seats and a floor jack in the trunk as well.

I dunno. You guys have very sensitive and finely calibrated butt dynos, apparently.
I have autocrossed for 11 seasons. I'm currently in a 2,100 lb car with 130 hp on a good day. I take people for rides periodically. I can feel the difference in cornering and some in braking. Acceleration difference is fairly minute. A 150 lb passenger might be worth 1 second on a 70 second autocross course.
So... no, I don't buy that I'd feel a discernible difference in a 993 on the street.

Maybe it was a poorly calibrated mind dyno, but it felt different. I know that the mind can play tricks (mine does this frequently), and without actually timing something it is purely subjective.
I'm going to grab him and try again tomorrow. I'll grab some short, chunky guys from IT to put in the back as well. That should get it up to about 660 pounds.

TX, grab a cute girl from accounting. One of the tricks to going faster is to try to give a ride to a 105lb (in a helmet) girl and make her go yeee-haaa. That way you'll know what's what
