Default Got me a Sachs RS/CS clutch kit

Put the car up for the winter months and the first parts are already rolling in.
The price was awesome so I couldn't refuse to buy it. It'll go into a 97 993 C2 cab, together with a chip upgrade from Steve Weiner.
The car has 62k miles on it and the clutch feels fine but I figured I'll do it for the sake of faster acceleration, combined with a gearbox syncros overhaul.
I understand all the components except the throwout bearing falls through the pressure plate. There is a bag of parts for the throwout bearing but I'll have to read up on all of it so it makes sense.
Here are some pics, thought I'll share.

Nice stuff. Just did this about three months ago, but with a solid center disk. Feels pretty good. Wish the flywheel rattle was a little less but if you don't lug it you typically don't hear it.

You're going to like it. Got mine done this week. We're in Mendocino right now and got here from Sacramento via some very nice back roads. What a blast, fell in love with the car all over again. Car is very lively feeling combined with the RS engine mounts and feels more attached to the road. Like a different car.

I got it several months ago and it is so, so much better than stock. Much less gap and chirps the wheels between shifts.

Thats actually the 993RS/CS setup. 993RS used a dual mass setup like all the others

Thank you Bill for the heads up, I'll edit it in my subject text.

Does anyone have data to back up how much of a difference this makes? Reduced mass definitely affects acceleration but I've always felt that the bigger difference is improved ability to match revs and therefore faster shifts.

I'd be surprised if there was a big margin on these kits unless you're shopping at the local dealer.

As others have mentioned....you will need a custom chip for this application.
As the Revs drop much much quicker on decel on this setup vs stock. I.E. The engine will simply stall/die when in stop & go traffic. In fact, it may do this even with the chip.
Mine did that with a chip. Still worth the upgrade but its something to consider.
Cheers,
K.

K, if you read the previous LWF threads you will see that the stalling issue is mainly a problem for the pre varioram cars.
Seems as many have adjusted the idle RPM a bit up on the ISV to get rid of the stalling.

I see that Carnewal is selling the kit for 1600 euro (no affiliaton), anyone know the price Sunset is selling for ?

Yes, Gert's selling it for EUR 1600, but you'll have to add VAT of 20% + he always has a somewhat high s/h cost on top of it.
I paid EUR 1600 shipped, incl. VAT.

I paid around $1600 for all of the associated LWF materials from Sunset last year. Unless there have been some drastic price increases, I don't see how 1600 EUR is a good deal as that is $2250 US.

Well, over here it is a good deal, for some strange reason parts prices tend to be lower on your side of the pond
