993 Performance Exhaust

yikes, the more I read posts like this the more I think about replacing fabspeed supercups with stage III. I'm running B&B headers with supercups and it sounds pretty nice but I guess the fister III is the way to go.

I have Fabspeed supercups. They drone/resonate badly, and are unbelievably juvenile. This assessment from the guy with the 5 Marshall and Hiwatt stacks in his living room...
Unless you are looking for a an obnoxious loud exhaust note, you're much better off with the Fister variants. Darin and Mark are the best.
Best,
Matt

im happy with my mille miglia's that I bought used here on rennlist. they are more tame and dont drone. easy to talk in cabin but a nice rumble/ low tone when warmed up.

see page 2 for video.
I found the fister mufflers too loud/grumbly sounding.

Went from LPMM's to Fister Stage III's. Love the III's and I have a cab. No problem talking in the cabin, even with the top down. A lot louder from the rear/outside of the car though and the sound is intoxicating.
Never heard any of the other variants so I can just say I love the III's and wouldn't ever think about replacing.

Thanks for everyone's valuable feedback. I just bought my first ever Porsche (a 1997 993 C2 in arean red) last week and I've already done my first mod (a set of PZero Hero). Seems like Fister III is the way to go. Any dealer that you can recommend which they can do international shipping ? More information on the aspect is appreciated.

Since you have the word "performance" in the title, I'd want to see some dyno charts of the system compared to the stock system with no other mods in order to see what the actual gains and losses are of the system itself. Those charts should be independent...not manufacturer supplied.
I doubt gains are hardly worth talking about and from the dyno charts showing power and torque that I have seen in magazines doing exhaust system testing, there were quite a few dips in the curves below stock levels where it matters...in day to day driving.

F and D are both great and they make a high quality product with even better service (they'll take care of your shipping). DACH products are also great and he is another member here. Same for Robins RSRs.
Personally I have Dansk 100 cell split flow cats and "RSRish" mufflers. I love that combo. Exciting when you push the loud pedal and the girlfriend doesn't complain about the sound when you don't.

I just chucked it all - cats and mufflers. Sounds pretty good.

While building my exhaust I tried running it with just the metallic cats and then dumping the exhaust from there. Without the mufflers it sounded awful... Not at all like a race car. With a racing cam in there it would be another story but I just can't imagine driving around with the exhaust that loud without having something really impressive under the hood to back it up.
The RSR type of modification really sounds great. That was the first thing I did with my 993. Gutted the mufflers and welded them back up. Keep the baffle plate in there to keep the empty "can" from resonating but eliminate all the basalt and steel wool. The modification haves a few pounds off and really makes a nice difference in the sound/tone... plus it's free!
