Default Need help with wheel offset.

On a whim, with only minutes left, I bid on a "Speedline look" (don't know the manufacturer) set of wheels (thinking there was no serious chance I would win them). Now, I can not find the same offsets with a search, and I am concerned that these wheels will not work on my NB 993. The wheels in question are 8.5J X 18H2 ET 56 (Fronts) and 10J X 18H2 ET 54 (Rear). They supposedly came off a 964. The tires on them currrently are 235/40's and 265/35's. My car is lowered to RS +10mm specs. Please give me some good news.

Front will work. Rear should work as well (factory offset for 18x10s in the back is 65, I believe. Moving yours 11mm inwards should not cause a problem. If it does, 10mm spacers will do the trick.

I think what you bought is RH wheels. Did you get above his reserve? Do let us know what the weight is, if you get them. I think they look very good and it's a really good deal if you ask me.

Thanks, yes I did get it above the reserve which was just above the previous bid price. Now I just have to explain this purchase to my wife.

My main concern was fitting inside the fender without rubbing.

I think I know the wheels you bid on. They are the RH AG Cup.

Bill is right, I had my numbers confused. 54 offset in the rear will stick more out, not in as I've indicated.

With RS+10 it might rub unrolled fenders. Do let us know, though.

I ran the RH Cup AG wheels for a while on a lowered car. You'll need a fair amount of neg camber, and you definitely won't be able to run any wider than 265 tires. So you should be able to get them to fit, but just barely. Probably need to roll the fenders (baseball bat + heat gun).

By the way, be careful with those wheels. Always make sure your tires are properly inflated, and avoid potholes. The rims bend pretty easily. But they're gorgeous wheels and aren't all that heavy.

It is going to be close at your ride height. I had a set of wheels 18x10 with 55 offset and got slight rubbing on big dips in the road. Ride height was sames as yours.

Ic can come down to the tires that are on it though, i had Direzza Star Spec 265/35's and they rubbed while a set of Nitto NT01 275/35 didn't rub. All on the same wheels.

Thanks for the input. I feel a little better about my rushed purchase decision. I currently have the hollow 18" turbo twists on the car and I was originally looking for another wheel set for autocross. I'd appreciate any comments on which wheel set I should use for Autocross?

I really don't think it matters which set you use for autocross. What tires are you running and in what class? Are you sure you want/need dedicated set if you are not on race rubber?

Currently in PCA-OS class. Thinking about putting on the second set, some R compound (much lower tread wear rating) tires. I currently have the Direzza Star Specs on my Turbo Twists. They are good tires but I am just trying to shave that second or two off the times.

Check with your PCA people. Neither of the two PCA clubs locally allows R-comps on a cab without a rollbar.

While a set of Hoosiers will get you about 2-3 seconds over Direzzas... how should I put it politely... think long and hard before doing this. And seriously consider taking up mainlining heroin as a less expensive and less addictive habit.

No such restrictions here with R-comps, but I do hear you.

I appreciate the information. Sounds like we are in the same boat. Interesting that the Nitto's did not rub. I did notice that the Star Specs were a bit wider than the PS2's of the same size.
