Default OT: Drove 30+ hours through MN, MI and WI & didn't see one 911. :o)

Took another trip a couple of weeks ago to do 3 more state high points (I'm at 32 now, aiming to be at 35 by Thanksgiving) and once again, didn't see one 911. I guess the northern parts of the midwestern section of the US don't have many 911 drivers. I saw one Cayenne but that was it. I rented a car this time as I only had 4 days to do all 3 high points and get home. Really glad I didn't do MN and MI in my own car as Eagle Mtn had about 20 miles of road leading up to it that was terribly gravelly and in not great shape. Would have done a number to the front of my car. Michigan's Mt Arvon was 10X worse, one of the worst logging roads I'd ever been on. It would have ravaged either of my cars a bit, with huge potholes for 7 miles with standing water so you had to go over them at about 1-2 mph.

Here's the trip report if anyone's interested...

The Friday before Thanksgiving at 5pm I'm heading down to Mississippi to it's high point 15.5 hours from my house, so I'll stay over night 1/2 the way there I guess, hit MS's high point later that day... Woodall Mtn at a eye popping 806 feet high.

Then it's off to Alabama's Cheaha Mtn at 2407 ft high.

Lastly, I'm sure I'll need oxygen for this one... Florida's Britton Hill at a whopping 345 ft, the lowest state high point in the US. Then it's straight to Miami to see family. Then back home.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing tons of 911's on this trip seeing that I'll be traveling through actual civilization this time! (I-95 East Coast driving). I'll report back my findings and try to get some 993 pics if I see any along the way.

Cheers,
Steve R

Wow, what a great adventure! When you finish, you will have to go to the Low Points! (Hint, start with Death Valley...what a great place).

I was out driving around up here in Michigan but you must have missed me. Good luck.

Hey Steve:

I finally found my pic of the highest road point in Alberta, which is also the highest driveable pass in Canada.

The highest geographic point in Alberta, Mt. Columbia, is 12,290 feet, and here is a link:

Hat's off to you for doing a road trip around here this time of year. In the Midwest, my 993 and most of my friends car's are in storage right now. In the Milwaukee area, we have had 5 inches of snow and it's 22 degree's out right now (this is only the beginning of winter). There has been times when we have gotten 12-15 inch's of snow by now. Great pics by the way.
