The small go-cart feel and the smells...before and after the drive. Also, the last of the air-cooled cars...there are so many things from the earlier 911s that are in the 993...and those things stopped with the 993....they are gone forever....the smells are a good example.

Question You don't change the cam belts every 3 years?

I just changed them again! I love my 993 and agree with everyones statements above.

I also love being attached to the car and not worrying about when the newer model is coming out like I have on all other cars I have owned - I dont want the newer model.
My 944 or 968 doors were both very solid, but don't sound like the 993 at all. I do get the fascination with it. When I first heard a 911 door close, I thought the door seals or something else in the door assembly were messed up.

I can't say what my favorite feature is, but there are many - some just oddities or inconveniences that you live with to drive a 911.

Just returned this afternoon from a fellow PCA member's memorial service. We all drove our Porsches as a salute to him. The ride over and back just made me realize all the more my good fortune to be healthy, happy, in the company of my lovely, car-crazy wife and driving my 993. Life is good...Enjoy the ride!

Its the only car I can think of that makes me feel like I am simultaneously driving an older classic car and a modern sports car. Its also the only car that I've ever owned that I've never considered selling - not even for a moment. 6.5 yrs and counting!

I've been mulling over this question this week and agree wholeheartedly with both your points. I think the 993 is the ideal blend of new and old as far as sports cars goes. After owning muscle cars for the last 10 years I went from putting on 200 miles/year to 4000 miles/year. I've owned my car for 3 years now which is a record for me!

Not my fav, but worth pointing out.....Gotta love it when the passenger cant find the inside door handle to let themselves out.....or even funnier, the valet when you have no choice!

I think the immobilizer with a valet or infact anyone trying to start the car is funny
